Like some other answers here that point to where you might find the root of your confusion.
There is a mighty confusion in the little world of 'mega-narratives' where a particular world view is repeated and revised often and long enough to become a GI manual for thinking in a certain way. There are many groupings leaning left or right of a particular dogma and they spend their lives bitching over the meaning of words in order to define their a priori beliefs.
Mountain gurus in academia arise out of these mega narratives like lavae from a dead body and make oodles of money out of expounding on hot air from an imagination that is over dosing on a little bit of knowledge. Many flock to hear a myriad of elegant theories about life and death and the hot night air is full of the sound of voices plucking ideas out of nowhere but their imagination.
In the context of the weightier matter of life and death, Friend,
The priest teaches nothing.
The church teaches nothing.
The university teaches nothing.
The government education steering committee guides teachers into teaching nothing.
Nothing but what comes out of their imaginations and what best fits their own collective theory.
My advice to you, Sunshine, is. If you want to know the truth, there is only one way you will know it.
There is only one teacher and he came in the flesh to teach you everything you need to know about life and death.
There are many teachers who teach their worldview from a position of 'knowing something' and the more you listen to them the more you will get confused.
If you make Jesus your teacher it will be an act of repentance (turning to God) and he will teach you. I guarantee it.
Remember. There is only one teacher. For the sake of definition there can only be one. It is an eternal principle that drives the universe. Only One Teacher.

Hi Jadorre7,
From my understanding, if jesus was just another good man, prophet, or whatever, he really doesn't have any relevance to mankind that matters. If, however, He was God, as he claims in the Bible, it seems at least important to try and figure out what he was all about and make your own choice.
Considering His claim to be God in the flesh, He was either a liar, a lunatic, or LORD! Why would hundreds of millions of people follow Him if he was a lunatic or a liar? Time is started from His death. (2007 A.D.) Everyone swears His name, not Buddha or anyone else, He is the only religious icon over which there is so much controversy and confusion. All of these things and more made me think that where there's smoke there's probably fire too.
God actually chose to come and experieince being human in the person of Jesus. He experieinced every kind of temptation and all of the suffering sin can bring into a person's life, yet He resisted every temtation Himself and yet ironically chose to also die for all of the sins of mankind. There is no logic for this other that it was worth it to Him and He loves us unconditionally. He did it so that we could identify with Him and choose to be with Him {in life and death} and would not have to suffer under the dominion of sin on earth. He offers healing from sin and hope for the future.

I should think your answer woud be obvious.
Jesus saved us from death.
Or did you think that people could live forever, without a bit of re-adjusting?
Look around you.
The rich toss in their fine beds, trying to figure out how to extort even more money from the poor, while the children of the poor shiver in their rags, crying for a crust of bread to ease their hunger.
Love has become a dirty word, and marriage nothing more than a sham.
Abuse and violence are no longer the exception...they are rapidly becoming the rule. Do you know anyone who did not suffer some abuse as a child? Not very many folks do.
I suppose God could come down, kick us around a bit, or more than, and tell us all to behave...or ELSE!!
But then, that's how we got into this mess in the first place, isn't it?
You're right...something just does not add up. The guilty factor is US...

Good question. I believe the preist gave you some wrong answers.
Moses did not go to heaven when he died. He went to a place of waiting called "Abraham's bosom" or "paradise". This is not heaven. This is a place where those who were born before Jesus came went, so they had a chance to believe on Jesus after He came. The New Testament tells us that Jesus went and preached to those in Abraham's bosom, and at that point they chose wether to believe on Him or not.
I don't know about your grandfather. Was he a Christian who believed on Jesus before He died? If not, I'm afraid he's not in heaven.
The ONLY way to heaven is through believing on the blood of Jesus. He saved us from our sin which keeps us out of heaven.

A whole lot. Jesus told us that he was the light of the world. He also told us that we (the saints) are the light of the world. We, the saints, are the reflection, or are suppose to be the reflection of this light of his. When the Dark Ages came, how was the world, since the Christians were not shining,as the were before the descent of the Dark Ages?

When Jesus died it made the way clear for us to get out of this life alive.
He has done His part, our part is to accept what He has done and ask Him into our lives. Once you have done this you will start to understand a whole lot more.

Jesus as the son part of the God head gave us a way back to God because without Jesus we are utterly cut off from life with God.

All people who died before Christ were kept in hell. the fact is after death the first man to enter Heaven was Christ.
you see he completely gave up His place in Heaven,to live 33 years as an ordinary man,but displayed extraordinary power,by the power of the Holy Spirit. He came to prove that anyone of us, with the power of His Holy Spirit could live as He lived. He was betrayed by His own people,as it was His blood that was required to pay for the sin of disobedience in the garden of Eden.
all generations of men,had to wait for Christ to come down to where hell was, tell them He is God's Son...those who accepted His Authority, went with Him to Heaven.
The difference now,is that ,we can go directly to Heaven, cause He came before us...if we lived before Him, not so....
its in the letters written by Paul, where he states that Jesus went down to Hell, and went upto Heaven taking the captives with Him...these were all the generations he freed.
all people when they die, meet Christ, it is the first glory of judgement that u have to face.hope ur Grandpa accepted the Lord!

He saved us from the worlds system ... The side that perverts and distorts the truth! Christ came with principals to teach us about life and those lead us to hope and eternity ...You can't accomplish any of it without faith which is a gift from God . With Him we have guidance and deliverance form damnation...
