I've been getting more involved with the gay community and helping a friend of mine fight to be allowed in the military, because he's homosexual does not mean he shouldn't be allowed to serve his country. I've seen many Christians, Catholics, and other theists on this site say that they're against homosexuality because God forbids it.
Without being rude - because I respect your choice (to an extent), but I also want to bring up the fact that God teaches you to love your fellow man. Should you deny someone's friendship because of their choice in partnership simply because you don't agree with it? Do you consider the feelings of others when you speak out against the gay community in the name of God?

I feel as though many people put God - someone, or something, who cannot be proven or disproved, over the feelings of their peers, their co-workers, people they don't even know, all because an ancient book tells you to?
If God asked you to jump off a bridge, would you do it because God asked?

Now I ask you - why is it that God has control over your life? Who says he has the "final say" in what's right and wrong?
"Religion cannot be without morality, but morality may arrive without religion." What does that quote mean to you?

Thank you for speaking your truth. If Christians followed the premise "Love one and other" the world would be a different place indeed.

I even have asked this exact same question, using fact by this reasoning, that's sinful for a submit-menopausal lady to have intercourse, or a woman who's had a hysterectomy, a pregnant lady, or an infertile guy, and so on. however the stuff some valid marriage--they don't lots care on the subject of the "marriage:" that's having intercourse that won't be able to probably produce a baby that they have got have been given their underclothes in a twist approximately. An observed baby could have been born using fact somebody else had intercourse--possibly, the adoptive couple who won't be able to produce a baby wouldn't have intercourse. i know we are going to get some thrilling and convoluted factors, yet, incredibly, once you are going to assert gay intercourse is sinful using fact that's not completed for procreation, then it follows, logically, that any intercourse that won't be able to probably bring about concept is likewise forbidden.

Now here are my thoughts on this issue. Homosexuality was forbade in the bible and not all the bible was written from the words of god. Man HAD to throw his 2 cents in and this is where you get some of these screwed up rules. Even Jesus NEVER preached against a gay man or woman. IT WAS NEVER AN ISSUE!!! He loved us equally and knew we were all different!! GOD gave us a few rules....10 of them to be exact. And nowhere does it say you can't be gay. Do you know what Christ said that we have to do to get to heaven? Accept Jesus as our lord and savior and make him the king of our lives. NOT "...oh yeah and be straight as an arrow or forever burn in hell"
Mankind has evil thoughts and does evil acts like hate his fellow man for how he acts. It saddens me that we have gotten like this and no one can see the light. Most all gay men I have known all believe they are damned and don't care, I could never make them believe they don't have to change to receive salvation. And Christians that think that gay people won't make it into heaven at all will have quite a surprise when they see those that accepted christ and realized thats all you had to do.
So now your question, No. Never. Ever. You should be someones friend BECAUSE they are different. Christians, non-Christians, straights, gays, blacks, Latinos, whites, Jews, Arabs....(sigh) I just wish I could buy the world a coke.

I am a christian and a supporter of homosexuals. i dont think God appriceates the fact that they go around hurting ppl with your words with no regard for other ppls feelings just because the other ppl r gay. To thy own self be true. God wants us to love our homosexual neighbors. I belive that homosexuals that belive in God go to heaven. why would God turn away someone who has devoted their lifes work to get alcoholics sober and beilive in God because he's gay. thats what all my gay friends do. there are many ways the bible can intuperated and i do respect the views of the ppl who are against homosexuality but they shouldnt go aroud shouting "Gay is not the way! Youre going to hell!!!!!!!" thats just wrong. to the quote protion it says to me that humans can be moral without religion which i agree with (to an extent) (i hope you dont think im mocking you cuz im not). i leave you with a quote of my own. "Imagine all the people living life in peace..." John Lennon
i hope one day the the adopted children of gay couples can sit down at the table of brotherhood with the children of homophobes that is my dream (just changing the words of the great dr. king if he lead the fight aganst homophobia thats what he would say

God gave humanity the freedom to choose. Some people choose to be gay and others are naturally inclined to have such tendencies. Those that choose to follow God should know that they have the choice to befriend a homosexual person based on their own beliefs. People shouldn't think that the choice has been made for them just because God Himself supposedly condemns homosexuals.
I'll bet if Mormon was as popular as Christianity we would all get along much better.
But I digress. If God Himself asked me to jump off a bridge, I would refuse. Because He gave people that choice. Just like I choose not to put my faith in Him. Besides, I don't think that He would ask anyone to jump off a bridge because, in Christianity, that would get you a one-way ticket to Hell. He'd probably ask you to push the person next to you.

ok first, if God spoke to me audibly and asked me to jump I would.
Second, the way I was brought up was to hate the sin, lover the sinner.
While I adamantly oppose the gay lifestyle and believe what the bible says in regards to being gay. I can still respect the person as a person. I have several gay friends. Do I think they are going to hell, absolutely according to the bible, however it doesnt mean that I can love or care for them.

Indeed there are many Christians who specifically hate on gays. The Bible definitely says stuff about homosexuality. It's sin. And we are all sinners. However for a gay person to accept Christ, their mindset would have to change. They would have to try and come out of their being gay. There are many programs out there that help, and many Christians that have struggled with it.
Yea, basically, I'd love a gay person like anyone else. But in no way is being gay justifiable.

God loves everyone equally. His word is the same for everyone. We should love one another but that does not mean that we are authorized to give the message to the gay community that homosexuality is God's will for us.
We indeed should be friends with everyone. However, we are not in power to change the word of God. We all need Jesus for our salvation and that is the same for everyone. God knows our hearts. His decision is going to be the right one.

How bout this one:
If Superman was gay, would you resent him stopping a bullet that was meant for you?
I am not gay, I do not believe that homosexuality is right. But in my view, homosexuality is something that exists in all of nature, and should be respected. Every gay person is a human being, just like me, and I treat them with the same respect I expect from them.
May peace follow you throughout

Hate the sin, love the sinner. Yes, God is very much against homosexuality. The Bible is very clear on that. However, it is also the job of the Christian to minister and love our fellow man.
We have welcomed many gays in to our church. They know where we stand on the issue, but we don't make them feel unwelcome for it. I have put my arms around many gay people and welcomed them. We can only hope and pray that they break away from that life style. Many have, many have not.

You are a very wise woman, and I like the way you worded this question.
I am a Christian, and I do not condone homosexuality, but I also do not condemn those who practice it.
A real Christian knows that we ALL have sinned, and have ALL fallen short of the glory of God. We are all sinners, none is better that another. It is a Christian's obligation to come along other who have fallen and help them with their walk with God.
However, this doesn't mean that we can just ignore sin and accept it. It is also a Christian's obligation to point out the sin so that the other may correct for it. The Christian should hate the sin, but love the sinner.
