you probably hit the nail on the head with the head gasket, but i believe there is also some kind of a heating device that helps to stop the water from getting into the engine. if the heating device breaks water can then condensate and get into the oil. i had to replace this device on my 93 grand am so i know it exists on some cars and trucks. ask around about this heating device. if it's the head gasket there is a STOP LEAK product that you can try from any auto store such as abc auto, pep boys etc. i've used it and sometimes it works sometime not. depends on how bad the leak is.

Cracked block or cracked head. But the most common cause (and the least expensive of the 3) is a blown head gasket.
There is a 4th possibility though if the vehicle has an oil cooler integrated into the radiator. Most oil coolers are stand-alone so that's not a common item.

Unfortunately, a head gasket would be the best case scenario as far as car problems are concerned here. Unless you somehow poured water into your oil or it leaked in from the outside, then it is leaking in internally. It could also be a cracked head or a cracked block.

Most probably the head gasket. If the engine is running cold for a period of time, it will develop the baby turd yellow under the cap and on the end of the dipstick as well.

That is the only route that water(coolant) can get into the oil.
