We use this for medical reasons, and don't want to be harrassed by bothersome, moneymaking laws.

If you do not want to be " harassed by bothersome, moneymaking laws" then you should stop smoking pot. Chances are, even it was legal for medical reasons, you would still not be able to use it.

With a name like de_rooker420, you must be a marijuana expert. I can tell you must have a PhD in biosciences and MUST know everything there is to know about the plant. Get the hell over it. pot is illegal, and more and more studies are showing you can become physically addicted to it. Just because you think it is harmless and a stupid law, It is still a law. And when you break the law, you will be punished.

we should for people who NEED it, not for people that just want it!

Although I would b in favor of a test that would judge judgement. like a breath analysis type one.
Even though it appears as a harmless drug, think about if it was legalized.

then youd have every lawyer trying to make other drugs legal.
and thats a pandoras box we just cant open

P.S. I do agree with ome of these arguements that alcohol is more mind altering than pot.
Ive known many people that claimed they were more creative when they smoked something, or even before they played basketball. And these same people were never hostile - until they actually got DRUNK!!!

But the argument remains that if you open this pandoras box -- other drugs will be able to slip by.
Then we have every lawyer arguing his defendant was on pot--then suing pot manufacturers, and more than anythign it would be a complete mess legally.

Thats the only reason why Im not in favor of legallizing pot.

I feel that if you legalize it, you can control it per say. It would come with tax and regulations like alcohol and cigarettes. States could use revenue for low income families and the production could help with roads and housing. It would have to come with strict consciences, like OWI laws if you are operating a motor vehicle, but if it was for your personal use and nothing else, no selling and growing for your buddies, it could be controlled. I think it will let law enforcement focus on the more violent drugs that are out there. Crack and meth are at a all time high and it needs to be stopped. China white is out there and it makes the rest look like baby aspirin. Designer drugs are killing to many people. Plus hemp has so many uses in industries. So to answer your question, Yes but with stipulations and controls.

MJ should be legal, as it was before the prohibition era. It's related product, hemp. Was used for sails on ships and the rope to tie them to the dock. Was used for paper as well, as it is now. To think about it.... before prohibition, drug crimes were just about non-existant. No over use or anything, make it a crime and people abuse it. Remember, beer and alcohol were also banned during prohibition as well. They just had a bigger push for use and higher profit level at that point. And also that religion pushed for the prohibition to start with, if they still had their way we'd not have any alcohol to drink either.

My quota of arrested drug offenders would go down, and I'd make less money. I don't want that. We need to start making more things illegal so we government officials can make some more dough. So what if it's just a plant. IT'S ILLEGAL. Why? I have no clue, but its bad. We say so, and you can't change that. What do you think? People can just gather together and change laws. Come on.

Marijuana made my lazy cousin become homeless. I mean he was lazy and self destructive before drugs, but I'm positive it was pot that made him homeless.

Of course pot should be legal. It's not harmless, but the harmful effects of it are grossly exaggerated.

Pot is a hell of lot less harmful than oxy-contins. Yes, oxy-contins can only be obtained by Rx... (sure... like that's going to stop anyone from getting them on the streets - and the FDA knew this)

You show me where someone ever actually overdosed and died on pot alone.

Legalize it - or at least decriminalize it. Booze is worse and that's legal!

I don't see why not, personally. The Netherlands legalised (or decriminalised?) it, and they don't seem to be doing all that bad compared to just about every other country in the world. And the problems it does have certainly aren't related to marijuana.

I don't smoke it myself however, and won't. So I'm indifferent. But I'd rather see people stoned than drunk.

Oh hell yeah! And in some (12 i think) states it IS leagal for medical use--and I believe in Oregon it's legal under a certain amount--like 1/2 oz. or something like that.

No, we should continue putting otherwise law abiding Americans in jail. It is a plant and god created it so we would be tempted by the devil. If we give in and smoke the heavenly herb we will be happy and stress free, but we will GO TO HELLLLL.

just kidding ...

I think we should make marijuana legal and make alcohol illegal. Marijuana makes people happy and they don't hurt anybody. Look at all the bad things alcohol does?
