This question was asked not long ago, the answers ranged from $50 to $150. I think $50 is good, $100 generous.

bigantdog22, I suppose that it depends on how well you know the couple and how close you are to them. We married two months ago yesterday and our cash gifts ranged from $50 - $200. Here it depends on your income also as people who aren't that financially fixed shouldn't give more than they can afford. I would suggest that $100 would have been the norm at our wedding.

Why don't people use the "Discover" function here on Yahoo Answers and read the HUNDREDS of times this same question, and variations of this question have been asked here on Yahoo???

#1- Gifts are NEVER required. Gifts are chosen by the giver, based on what they think is going to be helpful for the bride and groom, and based on their own budget.

#2- Often, the size or budget of the gift depends on your relationship with the bride and groom. Is it a co-worker? A friend? your best friend? A close family member? All of those may make a difference in your decision on how much to give.

#3 Bottom line, give what you feel comfortable giving. If you can only afford $25, then give $25. If $200 is comfortably in your budget, go ahead! Do you really think the bride and groom are going to judge you if you only give what you can afford, instead of skipping bills to give them a big check? If they are that judgemental and money grubbing, they are not worthy of a gift anyway.

the answer is how much can you afford to give ?I think what you need to understand is that the couple just want your presence to grace the occassion and any gift is just an added bonus.

At least double the amount that the couple is paying for you to be at their wedding- including food and bar. Multiply times 2 if bringing a date.

I think it depends on your relationship with the bride and groom, and also what you can afford to spend.
