Monkey Brain Recipe

Ingredients: 1.0 Irish Cream
2.0 cl Apfelkorn liqueur
Directions: Fill a shot glass with apfelkorn almost to the rim. Carefully pour a little bailey's into the glass. The two liquors don't mix if poured correctly, and the bailey's will sink to the bottom as a nasty looking blob, not unlike a brain.
In some parts of Asia, eating the monkey's brain out of his opened skull is suppose to arouse sex drive. The following article is not for the faint of heart. Don't know if it's true or an urban legend.

The taste is like water tofu
One gourmet said that the taste of monkey brain is not terribly special, perhaps like water tofu, and that pickled ginger and chili are used to add more flavor. Moreover, he added that the monkey brains become pungent if they are not fresh (for example if the skull was opened too long ago), thus it is best to open the skull and eat at once, while the brain cells are not dead and the blood vessels are still pulsing.
And you got this from a store...probably won't be good, according to these people.

As far as I know, you eat them raw. What was that movie? It was all the rage when I was growing up. Every kid wanted to see it. Where they secured a monkey into a barrel and his head just stuck out a little on the top. Then they chopped his skull cap off and ate the brains straight out of the head. Was recorded over in an asian country or something. God, what was that movie?

How they do it is they chill the monkey brain then scoop it out of the head with tiny spoons ! LOL

I don't think it is really monkey brain. I think it is really sweetbreads (calf thymus). They just thought it would sell better under that cuter name.
Slice thin and fry in butter (with maybe a little sherry) is the usual. Even if it is really monkey brains use that recipe.

you will need, cutting board, mallet and pan with oil.
Instructions:
Take brains and place on board.
Then smash with mallet till looks like worms.
Then rinse under tap.
Add seasoning
Then put into the pan.
Let it cook until it turns a reddish green colour.
It is ready to serve when you smell the smell of a water logged green toad egg headed frog...
Tastes really good and serves 3...

I wouldn't go with the "Faces of Death" method... ^^^
I mean who wants THAT mess on their table?
A low cooker would be the best way.
But if you don't have one then just chop it up into slightly larger than bite size pieces and cook in a pan.

brain is a very dirty food....throw it away. It has lots of bacteria.
