It is not the program but what you download that gives you viruses. When looking many times you will see a ton of hosts with the track one, or track two from etc etc. Stay away from those, go down to fewer hosts with the exact name of what you are looking for. By doing that you reduce your chance of a virus by 98%

All peer to peer networking software has the potential to have virus-ridden software uploaded to the network.

I don't know that any of them scan for viruses on the network, although they might. Not very familiar with frostwire or limewire, as I use torrents mostly these days.
