Hendrick- with Gibbs a close 2nd. I think RCR is up there too, and what about Roush? Actually, they maybe the 2nd best behind Hendrick (I'll get spun into the wall for that opinion).

Stewart's a second-half-of-the-season driver, and Hamlin's been hot. Yeley's been keeping his cars out of the body shop for a change...
Penske's cars are both currently out of the top-12.
DEI's hot & cold, Truex is coming on strong as of late, but Jr's struggling. Menard barely exists.
RCR has been fairly steady, with all 3 cars in the top-12.
Rousch has 2 in the top-12, but the other 2 are struggling.
HMS, except for bad luck, has been most consistent. Mears being the weakest link, & he's catching up.
If they weren't resetting the points for the Chase, Gordon would be really hard to catch.
IMHO, the driver most likely to do that in the Chase is Tony.
BUT......don't count on it.
#5 comes this year.

The standard for everyone else right now is Hendrick Motorsports. With last year's champ and 3 of their 4 teams in chase contention they are the team to beat again in 2007. They have by far the most wins and are the only team to get all of their drivers into victory lane this year.

HMS, hands down is the best. From the drivers, cars, and the people at the shop. HMS is the best. Rick is a class act. Good drivers, great cars, and a good supporting staff = HMS

To answer your question, i am a huuuge Jeff #24 fan, and of course, HMS is the answer. I wish I knew more about the sport, but it is my understanding the dale jr. has had to play by everyone elses rules for so long and maybe this is going to be his chance to break free from a lot of stuff... who knows... don't really know that much.

you mention five teams 4 chevy and 1 dodge. your forgetting the big ford team roush. they started the season out bad but are a few good pit stops from having edwards win at both new england and chicago. mcmurray won at daytona and edwards at michigan. roush has won 2 out of the last four championships. edwards makes that 3 out of the last five this year. dei is now where close to the top

DEI would be the best team out there if Dale Sr. was still alive. I think if Dale Sr. was still around things would be a lot different and Dale Jr. would not be leaving and going to Hendrick Motor Sport. The best team in Nascar Is Hendrick Motor Sport, and it kills me to say that. When Jr. goes to them next year, it will be hard for me to still be a fan, but he is Sr's son. He will win more races and get a few Championships, and that is what I tell myself.

Just look at how many wins each team has and you will get your answer right there.. HMS, as of now is holding that crown proudly and continuing pursuit on another championship, although I know it's still early. Well see what happens from here.
