The distinction may be said to be pracically unknown in the New Testament. Paul never seems to feel it; we find him urging men, "What ever you say or do, let everything be done in dependence on the Lord Jesus, giving thanks in his name to God the Father".

Great point!! As a Christian there should be no separation between the sacred and secular, because then it would give us an out,to act a certain way "in church"and then act differently somewhere else. Everything that would do should be in glory and honor of the One that gave Himself for me. Jesus entered the world to die so that we can be with Him eternally- that means that whatever we do here must be done for Him and through the power of His Spirit- so really we should never say that is sacred and this is secular-

Sacred pertains to holiness, Godly things........secular pertains to ordinary worldly things. Paul insisted on looking at the ordinary things through the eyes of God. To be awake to the spiritual world that is co-existant with this physical world we live in. To find and see the spiritual effect of all we do in this world. Our purpose in life is a spiritual purpose that affects eternity's results and so He depended on Jesus to direct him in all he did and thanked God for His faithfulness to the believer concerning this.

Diminati gave an excellent answer but maybe to give an even more simple definition- sacred is all things religious, secular is everything else.

To me , the word 'sacred' implies that which God holds dear, that being
His teachings in The Bible, things that are Holy. Secular, today implies things that are worldly, not of God, selfish, personal, unholy living.

The secular is the real world. The sacred is an imaginary construct.

That may sound flippant or smartassed, but that's the best answer I can give.

Sacred is whatever you want it to be. Its more about a feeling toward something that makes you think of the Divine.

For a Christian, there really isn't any difference.
We know that God is with us, in everything we do or say.
