They Read the Book Of Mormon. Some read the King James as well. The King James was also changed to suit the needs of the original writer. But not only do they read the "book of Mormon"they pray to it. If they question it they are told that if they refuse to pray about the Book of Mormon's authenticity, they are often accused of not believing in prayer. They state “We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the Word of God.” One thing that is strange that even in the book of Mormon there are numerous passages in the Book of Mormon which contradict modern Mormon thought.

Let me help you out a little bit. First, the official name of the Mormon Church is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints," so it's two uses of "of," the "the" goes at the beginning, and "Church" comes before "Jesus Christ."

The LDS Church uses as scripture the King James Version of the Bible in addition to the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price.

The D&C is a collection of modern day revelations that are used to govern the Church (this is where you'll find the Word of Wisdom - no alcohol, tobacco, tea or coffee - and the LDS belief that the Garden of Eden was in Independence, Missouri). The Pearl of Great Price contains a collection of translations (including the controversial Book of Abraham), an account of the First Vision, and the LDS Articles of Faith.

Christian Bible? Do you leave out the Old Testament you mean? Yes Mormons believe and read the Bible.. We use the King James Version. But there's a Joseph Smith Translation of the bible that makes more sense.

As for adding God's word. God didn't die 2000 years ago.
and biblically he never said the bible was the last word.

It's actually the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints =)

But yes. They do use the Bible. They read it, believe it, teach from it. They just have the Book of Mormon as well, among other texts.

Many people will tell you that since they use other books as the word of God, it makes them "wrong", or "stupid"... But those people often use other books to study thier religion as well. My suggestion to them is probably the same one most mom's use about vegetables:
Try it before you decide it's horrible.

And no, I'm not Mormon =)

Yes, they do, but according to them, it is incomplete. Joseph Smith (the founding father of the religion) apparently received God's word on tablets and, from this emerged the Book of Mormon. Also they have their Doctrines and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price.

In 1836 Smith claimed to have a divine revelation about the celestial kingdom and the church of the first born. They believe they are sealed to eternity with their spouses and children and that, in the next life, they will continue to procreate. Apparently there are 3 different kingdoms - Celestial, Terrestrial and Telestial. They believe water baptism is essential for salvation and practise baptism for the dead.

They also believe everyone lived in heaven before being born on earth (pre-existence). Christ, they say, is the firstborn spirit of the Father and the only begotten of the Father in the flesh. Although they claim to be Christian, examination of their doctrines show that they preach an entirely different gospel to that proclaimed by Christ.

I have had several discussions with Mormons. They use the Bible and are anxious to be acknowledged as Christians. But beware - they have added to God's Word and claim they have had additional revelations. They place more importance on the claims of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon than they do on the Holy Bible. Be very, very careful they do not fool you into thinking their version of what Christ taught is the truth.

Yes we use the King James Version of the Bible.

We use other scriptures as well. In the course of study in Seminary High School), Institute (college) and Sunday School (adult), we spend a year each on the Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon and Doctrine & Covenants. In scripture references within conference talks you will see about the same ratio.

Grey Tower,Live for Jesus, 7of 9, and Mr,Peeper! You ignorance of the Mormon Church is out done only by your flagrant bigotry!
To say that you don;t know what you are talking about, is an understatement!.
Do we use the Bible? Yes! WE choose to use the King James Version, because he was very careful in his translation, and just didn't make it up as he went along, like so many other translators did! Before that, if the translator didn't understand the glyph's or the Hebrew, they substituted words instead of trying to get it right!
As for using the Book of Mormon along side of it as another testifier of the truth of Christ's gospel, well, that's our right as well! That goes for the Doctrines and Covenents, and Pearl of Great Price, as well!
But as I have said so many times before! Check it out for yourself! Don't rely on the warped viewpoint of other people! There are many Mormon haters out there,! To them, I say' Satan, get thee, behind me!

The church's canon of sacred texts consists of the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price. These are referred to as the church's Standard Works. Though not canonical, many members of the church also accept the teachings and pronouncements of the church's general authorities, and particularly the President of the Church, as scripture, and even as taking precedence over the Standard Works
