Unless he is doing a split op- he will go directly to AIT. No you will not be able to stay with him. The most he might get off between basic and AIT is a weekend if he is not split op. If he was doing a split, he wouldve known before he went to Basic. Also, do not plan on moving to the area when he is in AIT because he will not be able to see you or spend time with you anyway. AIT is just a continuation of Basic Training.

The brass tacks are you can stay where ever you like. However the Military has 0 provisions for class b dependents I.E. Girl Friends. Considering that you are not married he will be required to maintain a place in the barracks. Depending on the Nco's in his ait unit they may or may not let him stay off post without being on pass but usually he will be required to stay in the barracks. If he gets a pass on weekends then you may have a chance to see him, there are many other factors to put into the equation. He will have guard duty or charge of quarters duty and barracks clean up and many other additional duties the keep up with so for the most part your not going to see much of him either way until he gets assigned to his home unit. Now some advise i would just stay home till he gets Assigned to a home unit then go from there because even once he has a home assignment he still has to maintain a living area in the barracks unless you two get married somewhere along the line. Which in most cases will not be allowed (because of time off from training to get married) until after he goes to a home unit. Hope this helps. E-Mail or pm if you have any further questions i may assist with.

He won't know if he's coming home between basic and AIT until he gets his orders, which might be a week-2 weeks before the end of basic.
When he goes to AIT, you might be able to stay in the area, but since he's your boyfriend, not your husnband, don't expect any financial help.

He will be shipped off to AIT the day he graduates , or have at most 2 days to report depending where his AIT is. You will not be allowed to stay with him, being the Girlfriend .
If he has AIT where his training is 6 months or longer you may be able to stay in the area, and IF he is allowed to stay off base you can live with him, but he will not get any money extra money for you.
There was a woman I met when we were stationed at Ft.Sam her husband was in AIT for 6 months , he was allowed to stay off post .
Wait until hes done with his training any outside distractions may not be a good idea.

This is a test of how important you are to each other. If his AIT is less than 6 months, it will not be worth the effort. If longer, it is. You will have to find a place to live off post as he is a "trainee", the lowest form of military life. He will be expected to live in the barracks, so you will spend a lot of time by yourself. There are almost zero jobs available for you, unless you are interested in waiting tables or being a stripper. The military assumes that the female spouse of an enlisted man is a prostitute anyway. I hate to lay it out to you this way, but this is how the military thinks. Male spouses of female GIs are considered "queers". You will be living off what he makes, which is not much. His even getting paid is not a priority to anyone. Good luck honey, if you love each other and work together to solve problems, it will be ok, 80% of the time, 20% of the time it will suck.

If you have a place to stay at home you should stay there until his is out of AIT /Tech School, You would have to pay for a place to stay he will be required to stay in the barracks. You can go visit him on week ends and holidays. When he is at his duty station then you might want to move. Save your money while you can. The both of you will have to get a place together off base as long as it's allowed by his commander.

From basic, he will go straight to AIT. When he does go, during his time there (and throughout any other training), you will not be able to stay with him. You'll have to stay in a hotel near by, or rent an apartment.
If you want to see him, you'll have to be escorted around base until his curfew is over. Men are separated from women, so you wont even be allowed in his dormitory.

In AIT to live together, you will have to be married, AND the AIT needs to exceed approx 5 months (usually 6+). Even if married, and the AIT is short, he will not be allowed to live 'off post' or out of the barracks.
Even when he gets to his real unit, he may not be allowed to live off post. (unless he is married) If he does, it would be out of his own pocket for rent as he will not be authorized BAH.

No, he will not be able to come home between basic & AIT. No you can not go w/ him. The military will not recognize you because you are his girlfriend. Even if you were his wife, you couldnt go w/ him.
