It's not required but is appreciated, especially if the driver responded quickly and cheerfully to your problem. I usually throw them a couple of bucks -- and more if the weather is particularly bad or it was during a holiday or the Super Bowl.

Yes, I tip tow truck drivers, gas station attendants, even the recycling guy who unloads all those syrupy cans and old beer bottles. They provide a service and most people take it for granted. I say show your appreciation for the efforts of others by tipping.

It's always nice to tip someone when they do a service for you. Yes they're getting paid from the company, but speaking from experience its not a lot. Just think they're out in the cold or rain replacing that tire while your sitting somewhere warm and dry.
I worked out on the NJ Turnpike for 7 years, pumping gas, and doing road service. When someone tipped me, it told me that they appreciated it, and made my day more bearable.
Answer this question to your self. Do you appreciate it when your boss complements you on the job you do, or do you figure its your job?
If I have the extra money I always tip someone like that.
