Me and my friends like doing something...

Everytime we see a cop car we point at it and quickly run away and the cops think that we hav done something bad so they chase us. We pretty much do it for the exciment/thrill cause there nothing better to do in this city..

Anyway, if a cop were to catch me and they didn't find anything on me and I truthfully admitted that we were running away from them as a joke could they charge me with anything??

They could charge you with Disorderly Conduct (DC) since you are causing a disturbance. If they tell you to stop and you don't you are giving them resonable suspicion to catch you. It's a game I wouldn't want to play.

If at any time while you are running and the cop yells "stop" and you don't you are now evading the police which is a felony in most states. You didn't say where you live so I can't give you the actual law you are breaking. If you choose to continue to do this, then you better be damn sure not to reach for anything in your pants like a cell phone or keys in your pocket while you run, unless you really want to be shot...

Yes, they can! By pointing and running away from them, you give them probable cause to stop you as a suspicious person. If you stopped immediately, you could possibly be charged with a misdemeanor of disorderly conduct. Not stopping when requested by the police, and caught later can result in a hard *** kicking tackle by the police officer. Then you could be charged with disorderly conduct, trespassing, (depending where you are running at & who's property) obstuction of justice, (not stopping for the police) possibly endangering a police officer, and eluding a police officer.
My advise, find another game. If you have a police officer with a bad attitude, he/she just may nail you with all those charges.

Misdemeanor Mischief. IF YOU'RE LUCKY!

However, running from the police FOR ANY REASON when they are chasing you is FELONY. "FLEEING AND ELUDING".

You gave them probable cause to chase you by running away.....they now have the legal cause to stop you and determine why you ran away. For all they know (at first) you are a criminal and have a real reason to run. Of course, they will then pursue you.

It's only a matter of time before you get a cop that is pissed enough from having to chase you, that will arrest you for it.

Stop while you still have a funny (and not tragic) story to tell.

Cheers.

I am not the #1 top source on law and such, but there is something out there for pretending to have an emergency, disturbing the peace, and there is probably something for provoking or bothering a police officer on duty. But two things: first off, no intelligent criminal would consciously point at a police officer after commiting a crime. Secondly, if you resort to doing tricks like this for entertainment, then you need to seriously and whole-heartedly try to find something better to do. Like playing in traffic. Photocopying your butt. Learning all the names and applications of cheese.

First of all, you need to grow up and take life more seriously! Why don't you get excited about an education, college or even Jesus Christ, instead of wasting your time screwing around with cops for no reason. YES they can charge you for obstruction of justice and they can get you for any acts you commit while running away if you were to involve another party or pedestrian. There's too many things in life to be doing and getting excited about then running around looking stupid and retarded with friends, having nothing to do better when you are obviously young, inmature and have no discipline. Where the heck are your parents? What are they teaching you ... because you have a really bad case of inmaturity and you need some type of counseling should you continue this road. Eventually you could and will end up in jail if you keep messing around with law enforcement. Let them do their jobs and leave them alone! ... Better yet, if you want some excitement, let's see what you can do with your girlfriend tonight ... Can you bust her nutt? Can you please her? Well that's a hell of alot more exciting than running around chasing cops for no reason looking stupid in America. Get real, grow the hell up and start taking life more seriously before your life is ended! ... Life is too short and then you die, so why play with it! .. Enjoy it!

Much Love
Peace & Happiness

They can charge you for obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct, failure to obey a lawful order of a police officer, and if you want to get nitty gritty, trespassing if you did, any pedestrian laws you may have broken, and running from a police officer for any reason can quickly become a felony. Don't do it, it's not funny, and the cops will be sure to tack on every charge they can for you wasting their time.

To evade arrest, appear to flee the sight of a police officer is NOT cool. Should you actually panic and drive fast or change lanes erratically, you WOULD be a menace and you COULD kill somebody by causing an accident. So this is a ticketable offense in MOST states. Possibly they might get ticked off and assume you guilty of being STONED and take you to jail, impound your car and otherwise ruin your day.

If you were speeding or trespassing through someones yard yes you can get into trouble. Believe me there are many ways a cop can get you for something especially if you are running away that give them suspicion.

It's just a bad idea. If you want to run away from people with guns, go invest in a good paintball kit.
