Anyone ever have this? I donated blood 4 days ago and i just noticed some bruising around and above where the needle was in my arm. Plus, there's been kind of a dull pain in my arm for the last day or two. Nothing too painful. I just noticed it especially today b/c I tried to lift weights with my arm. Does this sound serious?

Whoever did this, if you give blood again, let them know and, if it's the same person, tell them to take it easy. They run through the vein, they hit the vein on the other side or they had the needle touching the vein on the other side and irritated it, this happens. Believe this or not but, not everyone can draw blood and do it right or, they're just plain sloppy.

I wouldn't worry, it'll go away.

In med school I walked around with a black and blue arm for weeks sometimes from some of the people that just could never do it right. I have a very high pain tolerance and was always chosen for the stick.

I Myself Have Never Donated Blood But I Know People Who Have It Doesn't Hurt Getting The Needle In At All And You Don't Feel The Blood Either. The Only Hurtful Part Of Donating Blood Is Checking Your Iron Levels Which Is A Little Pinch On Your Finger Lol. The Only Thing You Shouldn't Do Is Look At The Bag Of Blood You May Start Feeling Dizzy And Faint If You Do. Hope It Helped

no I get that pain as well after I donate blood it should go away in a few days and also if you are lifting weights with that arm it might be making the pain last that much longer try resting your arm for a couple of days with an ice pack on it

No. They should have advised you not to lift anything heavy for a few days because the blood vessel in fragile and lifting will cause the wound (in the vessel) to open and blood to come out (causing a bruise). It will be all good in 1-2 weeks.

Nope. It sounds fine. I get that all the time. Usually if they have to poke around for your vein, it doesn't get good return, or just for some other reason, then it might bruise.
