Different believers are given different gifts when they are saved. Some "speak in tongues," some are given to prophesy, some are given means to interpret Scripture, it's all about God's plan for each one of us.

Personally, I don't hear voices, I don't speak in tongues, I'm not much of one to prophesy, but I am fairly adept at understanding Scripture, and I've been blessed with the knowledge that the Bible is God's Word. That's a gift, too, you see.

Hmm...could be that they're making it up because they want people to believe that they're special. Or it could be the God has spoken through them, who knows, maybe they have a mental condition, or maybe they tell themselves it soo much that in their mind, it happens. It could be that some religious people aren't truly listening to the beat of the earth, and maybe their hearts are walled off. This is an extreme question which is hard to answer, i wouldn't be surprised if you didn't get a satisfying answer, because the truth is, we'll never know. It's like asking why some people see visions or ghosts and others don't. Guess we'll never know :)

Religions differ. Some religions encourage subjective, experiential practices, others do not. In my religion, hearing "voices" is considered a severe form of delusion (both mental and spiritual).

Some are more suggestive than others. Some have not learned to realize that the voice inside their head is their own conscience.

Have you ever sought the Lord with all your heart? God clearly stated, "My sheep hear My voice."

I do not hear voices at all. The Lord speaks to my heart.

There are people who claim to hear voices; these people are schizophrenics. They are not necessarily Christian.
Some Christians have spiritual gifts and speak in tongues or "hear" the Lord.

Even I had to laugh at this one. Even though I am Christian, I don't hear voices. I have a relative that says she is Christian and says that she has visions and talks to God all the time. We don't talk about her too much........

God "speaks" to all of us in different ways, in which each of us can understand. Some hear Him speak, some dream dreams, some have visions, etc. Who are we to say how God chooses to speak to someone else? It is His choice how to do that. I don't question anyone who says God speaks to them. Who am I to question God?
