causing her to swerve into the other lane while her young child was in the back seat, what would you recommend for her to do? If he did this because she insisted on driving because he was drinking, would you say it's her fault or his?

It's called assault. And she needs to do something about it. I'm taking it that this is either her husband or boyfriend.
People when they are drinking do stupid things, which may also lead to her and possibly her kid getting killed.
If he insist on drinking and driving, let him do it on his own.

I'm with you! I just had my 5th baby almost 4 months ago. I weighed myself at home 1 month to the date after I had her and I was already 143 pounds! And dude, I do NOT diet or exercise! I wear a sz 11, which isn't exactly skinny, but it's not exactly fat, either. And for just having had baby #5, (no c-sections and no stretch marks, [well, a few on the hips, but nothing on the tummy or ta-ta's]), that's ain't bad at all. I know people who've only had 2 kids, or even just 1! and they're a LOT bigger than me! I realize people come in all shapes and sizes. And if everyone looked the same, this would would be a very boring place. And yes, there are men out there who LIKE big women. There's nothing wrong w/that. But I'm talking about the women who use the pregnancy as an excuse and they let themselves get run-down, lazy, and just plain fat. And then just seem to stop caring at all after that and fully expect their men to just accept it as a fact of life and act like there's nothing wrong w/the way they look and get all "You have to love me for who I am on the INSIDE".

I hope it did not happen an accident!. You know what she needs to do? knowing that he gets drunk, she should leave the party herself with her child and don't put herself and her child in extreme danger, yes this is extreme ridiculous danger that can be avoided. Or don't go to the party, if I had to not go to the party to save my child I wouldn't go, period, no big deal.
When sober try to get to an agreement that you'll drive without his interference then it's fine, but at the first sign of stubborness, leave the car.
And by the way.it totally his fault! I am sorry but what a brainless, putting his family in danger!!! he's worhless!

Sounds like a murder suicide and no one would be around to do anything.
Seriously, it's the man's fault because everyone is responsible for their own behavior. If this happened to you, get the guy to seek help before you get into a car with him again.

His fault.
But I have no idea why a woman would have a man like that in her car. And if it happened once, she would be an idiot if she ever made any human contact with him again. That borders on domestic abuse - she should stay far away from him, get a restraining order, and put a lawyer on retainer.

I'd say they have bigger issues than what was going on inside the car that day.

She was in the right to refuse to let him drive, and the abusive alcoholic jerk who endangered their lives is at fault.

He needs to get help, and she needs to get away from him until he does. If she cares anything about her child, she will get away immediately.

HIS. She should leave him. No woman should put up with a violent drunk husband. He almost caused her to injur her child and herself.
