While 12 is quite old to be a ring bearer, I'm sure he would enjoy an electronic game of some sort to keep him occupied during the reception.

Ask his parents what kind of thing he is "in to." We tend to want to go with sentimental gifts for the children in the wedding, but lets face it, children want fun! If he likes video games, books, a certain kind of toy or collectible, or sports gear, those are all good ideas. Also a gift certificate to a fun place, like a bowling alley, putt putt golf, game room, something like that so he can go have fun would be great. best wishes!

ummmm a 12 yr old as your ring bearer? Why would you do that to that poor boy? Ask his mom, I'm sure she'd know what to get him. If not get him a video game or just some cold hard cash.

I second the idea of the $50 in an envelope. Twelve year old boys are not the slightest bit sentimental about engraved pocket watches and the like. And they LOVE cash.

12 year old male might like some CD's. But I'd be thinking that a envelope with a nice thank you card and words to express how grateful you and your husband are that he took part in your wedding along with a $50 bill would be much more appreciated. Lets face it all kids that age like to have some cash to spend as they like.

Kids love cash. Its a double thrill. Thrill to hold $50 in your hand, and thrill to buy something with it. Plus, hes 12. Not an easy age to buy for.

You could get him a gift certificate to an electronics store or a store that sells games or whatever he is interested in.
Ask his parents for ideas too. That way you're sure to get something he likes!

After you receive all your wedding gifts, pick one that you don't need that would be appropriate for a 12 year old and give it to him with your THANKS....it's a WIN-WIN situation.
(e.g. did you receive two (2) Wii's or PS3's?)
(ok, maybe I was joking a bit....
give the kid what ALL kids that age want...CASH!!)
