Some tips??? Yikes. Sorry pal but tips won't do it. The problem with religion is that it is just a bunch of tips on how to manage sin, act like a better person, feel good about yourself, etc. It can modify the exterior behavior but never change the heart. True Christianity is a daily relationship that changes you from the inside out.
You want to practice what you believe? You already do. We all act in accordance with what we REALLY believe down deep. So focus on spending time with Jesus and surround yourself with people who will encourage your faith along the way. Life is a journey or pilgrimage where we allow Him to progressively change us into who we were meant to be.
The great thing about that is that it is less about duty and more about delight. You find who God means you to be. Your true deep heart passions are fulfilled.

If you want to "be somebody in life" don't ask people ask God. He has a plan for your life and has given you the gifts and the opportunities for his plan to come to fruition.
When you buy a machine you read the users manual and find out what the manufactures designed it to do. You don't just try and figure out what you can do with it. It's the same with you and God. Find out what your Creator has designed you to do and then follow that calling with all of your might.
If you don't know what it is, then pray and seek godly counsel and instruction from mature believers in the body of Christ.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are His handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
1 Corinthians 12:4 Now there are varieties of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are varieties of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are varieties of activities, but the same God works all in all. 7 But to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the profit of all).

Yep, the belief net thing is great. Also, educate yourself about many traditions and religions and adopt what makes sense to you. Don't try to conform your beliefs in accordance to what others think. I think you will find worth in many teachings of all the great spiritual leaders.

This is the oddest question I've ever seen. You don't come across as a graduate of anything? And why does it seem like your trying to get us to write a paper for you. And I really don't get the over all question.
