Firstly,a dad thinks that mom is the right person to guide the daughter, both being ladies. It is for this very reason that a dad is more concerned and involved about upbringing of his sons.Secondly,as a male he has a natural affection towards the daughter, being of opposite sex[this aspect has to understood in a nonsexual context].Thirdly,as traditionally a daughter marries and joins a different family and a feeling that she has a shorter stay within the family makes a man more extra considerate as one would be towards a sort of a guest or a temporary visitor,or some thing like that.Fourthly, a man's inbuilt instinct for chivalry towards the opposite sex .Fifthly,to re enforce the very notion[heard and learnt since chilhood] that fathers are easier on their daughters.Lastly, but not the least,it's an unspoken but proven experience of any DAD that daughters are more affectionate and caring towards their perents than the Sons.Any more?

hmm, asctually it depends. Now in this century, it is pretty normal i think. As daughters are cuter, and they ARE FEMALES, and many of the times i see, the daughters are either their only child, or the daughter is the younger sibling, so they parent(s) will naturally dotes on the younger child more..

But in another case, some of the sayings in the previous centuries, it said that as males are the breadwinner of the family, the parents favours the son more than daughters, and the thought is that, having daughters without sons is a disgrace, as las time females dont rreally have a place in the society.. unlike now, if the father you are talking about is old fashion, then ... maybe.

I'd say yes. They're going to be harder on their sons. It's part of training for the real world. Sons are going to see alot more shittier and harder times in life than their daughters will in most cases, so they need to be toughened up and prepared for all the hell that's out there. Our daughters will more than likely be sheltered from some of the realities of the world and we are trying to protect them from all the worries and dissappointments that we as men will encounter.

I think it's pretty normal, it sure is common. My guess is that fathers are about as tough on their sons as they are on themselves because they want to see their sons grow up to be at least as successful, if not more so, than they themselves. They don't want to see their sons make the same mistakes they did. When it comes to their daughters, it's a bit harder to relate to them because they aren't female- so they tend to leave the "tough" here to the mothers.

Yes, in most cases, fathers love their daughters and would never wish to do them harm, of any sort.

I think it's because their daughter is their little girl, and girls are fragile. Theyre harder on their sons because they want their sons to grow up to be a man, so if they go soft on them, their sons might turn out to be wimps.

Yes. Normally girls are more affectionate and obedient and love the father compared to the boys.

yes! haha i think its because its always, daddys little girl. it has nothing to do with who likes who more, but its simply that girls tend to always get their way over a brother.
