I don't know if I'd describe it as logical, but it's certainly not emotional for me. In fact, I'm not at all attracted to religious groups that offer "emotional" worship services. Just a personal preference.

You asked about religion not a belief in God. BIG DIFFERENCE.
I think for some religion is only an opportunity for fellowship. People who like to come together to love God.
For others, it is protection. The world is scary and religion offers uniformity. They feel superior because their religion is supposedly the only "true" way. LMAO!
For others, religion is needed to make it through life. They need to be told what to believe and how to act. They are not capable of thinking independently and using their brain rationally. Religion relieves them of the burden of having to think at all.
All of these reasons are emotional.

I think it depends on the religion. Some religions use emotion (fear, namely) to control people and keep them in line. I became Pagan because I found it to be the most logical to me. Logical in that what I believe in is right here in front of me every day. I don't have to have "faith" in anything. The Earth and its energies are apparent and real and measurable.

A religious belief requires faith
Faith makes the impossible possible.
It is based on words and words can say anything.
Religion can't stand up to an objective, logical analysis.

Most professed Christians seem to believe in what they feel is right and rely on their emotions. This, of course, is entirely wrong. God asks us to trust in Him and not to rely on our own heart (Proverbs 3:5, 6). Besides, being imperfect and sinful, our emotions could not possible lead us in the correct path (Jeremiah 17:9).
"The wisdom from above is reasonable" says James 3:17. Hence, the truth of the Bible is simple and logical, compatible with reason. Falsehood, therefore would be complex and hard to understand. God wants us to understand His Word the Bible. Satan the Devil does not. Hence, we are instructed "to present you bodies a sacrifice living, holy, acceptable to God, a sacred service with your power of reason", not with our powers of emotion (Romans 12:1).
This does not mean that we decide with out own intellect what is truth and what is not and it does not mean that persons with higher IQs are more likely to understand the Bible (Matthew 11:25). Rather, being led by the spirit of God, we allow Him to teach us (Isaiah 54:13).
Philosophical teachings have greatly infiltrated the churches of Christendom. What they teach is hard to understand, it dishonors God, and is not what the Bible teaches. Rather, true Christians have true understanding of the elegantly simple teachings of God's Word the Bible. This does not mean that emotion is not involved. We love God and the Bible. We are happy people. But our emotions are based on the written truth of God's Word, not the other way around.

I think I spend a great deal of time in intellectual thought and processing of my spiritual beliefs. The reason I do it may be to achieve emotional peace but really I think it's more of an intellectual thing.

It's the emotional instability to believe the things you 'could' believe and having faith the things that are impossible to believe are true. It's a simple lack of balance of the two that leads religion to faith.

It's both and then some. Logical to the core. Emotional to the core. Real to the core. It is never just feelings, nor is it logical dry facts.
