Far Rockaway stretches for miles from Breezy Point to Debs Inlet. To get there by train take the A. Then you take the bus, Q22, or another Q bus to get to where in far rockaway you want to go.

The Long Island Rail Road will get you there to. If you're coming from Manhattan it's a lot faster and an Off Peak ticket is only two dollars more than the subway is.
Edit:
Clarification of directions given:
He specifically asked for Far Rockaway which is the furthest town east on the Rockaway Peninsula and basically encompasses an area within about a .75 mile radius of where Mott Ave ,Sheridan Blvd, Beach Channel Drive ,The A train and the LIRR all come together.
If he wants to reach that point then the LIRR is his best choice.
Maybe he's got a job at St Joe's he's trying to get to. ?

Jones Beach if I had to choose between the two. Its actually got quite disgusting there lately and I stopped going this year. I would recommend Robert Moses which is also a state beach. People there are a lot more respectful and polite and its much cleaner and a short walk to the water.
