The RC Church considers itself "The body of Christ." It is joined through sisterhood to the other Christan Church's.

It is like a family. All families have that skeleton in their closet. The RC skeleton has been exposed, and now the Church is making Penance for it's sins.

However, when skeleton's in the governments closets are exposed, well, they are still hidden. In most states the government has set a "Statute of limitaton" and "Ceiling" on damages to the victims IF the crime was commited by a government employee. So, if you're a member of the government (Senator, Congressman, Police, Homeland Security Officer, Teacher, or any other position in power) the governtment will only pay (on average) $50,000.00 IF the sexual abuse on a minor is reported within 180 days (1/2 year). WTF????

Isn't a person who's been molested by a Senitor equal to a Priest? Why does the Senitor only pay $50,000.00 to "Groom" his 14 year old boy (who was on the panel to stop internet molestation) vs a dead priest who the Church will pay $1,000,000.00. Why is the government afraid to pay it's victims and make penance too??? Isn't the victim due compensation in all cases?

IDK why I'm ranting ... because in these cases, the Church calls the cops and there is an arrest on the Priest. Then the GOVERNMENT releases him. A psychopath like John Mark Karr is taken from the Thailand govt and handed to the USA on a silver platter, and he gets out quicker than the Priests.

Then with this high turnover, the governement (again CYA'ing) says to the public, "Here's a list of the boogy men, past this we relinquish any responsability"

That's why when they ask your religion at the hospital, I say Non denominational... You may be onto something there with the cult thing :) God is Love, and in alot of the churches I have been in it's more about hypocrits and people who feel they can judge others.
If more people would just Love, and send out that message then try and beat people with Bibles and their interpretations of them... well personally I think we would all be a little better off. Then again, that's just my opinion. I figure I can read the Bible and interpret it as well as anyone else, I don't think God would have made me stupid to where I couldn't read what he had to say myself. Now Tori Spelling is a minister... oh my! She's well known for her intelligence. Guess it takes all kinds. Religion may well be a gymic, but God is not. Humans created religion didn't they?

It's really sad to see and hear about this. Looking at it from another point of view, it means that a charity organisation can be sued. Shouldn't it have been a private law-suit against the individual.

Just realised that they have so much money. I don't see why they should have so much in reserves especially when so many people are starving to death. I honestly and seriously believe they will have a lot to answer for. The security of the church is not in the money but in God alone.

No, religion is not a gimic.

What is the $600 deal?
You are making a statement with no proof.

Show statistics PROVING that Christians are the ones responsible for bombs, rape, slave trade, corruption, and war.

NO WAY can you do that. You are just spouting off.

I want to see percentages of Christians responsible for each one of these atrocities that you have named.

You are just throwing a hissy fit.

I don't believe you can do it.

They will have to answer for that--because as Christians we shouldn't sue-and how do you put a price on something like that--and the church should have made those men suffer the consequences of their actions and taken their punishments--not tried to pay a monetary price for forgiveness.

gimmick, yes.
As in gimme your money, gimme your vote, gimme your ability to think for yourself.
Why?
Well, because God said so, and he told me to tell you.
So Gimme, Gimme, Gimme or God will be very annoyed with you.
Let us all Prey now.

(actually 660 million, the Catholics won on that one because they set the precedent that liability was limited to the local parish and the Catholic Church itself remained immune. The treasures of the Vatican are safe.)
