I don't know your grandfather but many Indian troops swapped sides to free India and that was the only politics involved but seeing that he was a p.o.w. who had been fighting for the British maybe it was an indoctrination or a survival choice(American troops have a lot better equipment you are more likely to come home in one piece with them than the British army)remember NO ONE WOULD SEND THERE CHILDREN OR GRANDCHILDREN to war doubly so if you know the reality.ask your self why he never told you what happened and do you want to see this if you do hope you come back

It's easy to face him. Just stand toe to toe and say what you mean.
Your question started out ok, I even thought " how noble, a young lad joining the Brits to help the West in the War on Terror".
Then toward the end you ran on about the Americans being "Fascists"? Read your history man...get a grip.
The UK and US soldiers have liberated more people in the last 75 years then ever before in history.
It's a damn good thing I wasn't the president on 911, My response would have been to flatten Mecca. They want a "holy war" I'd give them a holy war. They use mosques to hide in and shoot from, I call that a FORT....Blow them up!
The problrm is we're trying to be politically correct and fight this war. We shouldn't give a damn what the world thinks, and do what ever it takes to defeat these bast@%rds and get on with it.
You go a head and join the UK forces, they will make a man out of a misguided little boy.
( That just ended my chances for "best answer"...LOL)

Bear in mind that many regard your Grandfather as a traitor having violutered for the British Army and then betrayed them before discharge. The man is beyond redemption and I hope he is not and will not ever live in UK. He lost that right when he deserted to the enemy a hanging offence. No excuses

IF (and a big IF), he did say all the above regarding joining the fascist Americans.. The man is beyond redemption...turn your back and walk away..
Only a non American certifiable imbecile could give serious thought to joining the US army.

I had some sympathy for you until you spewed this garbage-
"Is he still that right-wing after all these years to consider joining the facist americans and their cause to oppress the world its worse than hitler......how can i face him over this"
I'd have more respect for you if you posted your incoherent rambling at the start of your question. Now you've made me waste 60 seconds of my day.
And it's faScist - if you're going to attempt to insult my country, the least you can do is run a spell check first.

not sure if i agree w/ everything said 'bout the americans, but i can see why u wouldn't want to join the US Army. Well, u should gather all your reasons and try to get him to at least listen. Tell him that even if things have changed, we all have to make our own life decisions and that he should at least hear u out.
btw, I don't know u're grandfather, so only u can decide whether u should do this. I know my grandfather would probably just get angrier if i said sumthing like this to him....

You and your strange grandfather need a dose of reality therapy or some stronger medication. Please do not join the British Army, I think you may have a little bit of an attitude problem, trust me you would not like it!
