I hate to use this description when descxribing global warming but at the end of the day it is an inconveneint truth. Like most inconveneiences people often don't want to know about it and want even less to do anything about it.

So far in America and Europe we've been lucky in that global warming for most people is nothing more than an inconvenience. So far less than half a million people have died and the cost to the economies is less than half a trillion dollars a year. Because the impact so far has been small it's east to dismiss but try going to Africa or Asia and telling someone there that global warming is a myth and they'll roll about laughing, it would be the equivalent of saying the earth is flat or the moon is made of cream cheese.

In some parts of the world the consequences of global warming are glaringly obvious, for those who open their eyes and look for themselves the consequences are equally obvious.

Personally I wouldn't worry about making people aware of global warming. Wind the clock back a few years and many people didn't beleive it, many governments didn't accept it. Most, if not all the major oil copmpanies denied it, so too did many of the world's major corporations. Today that picture has changed dramatically, it's now accepted by every government in the world, every major oil company relectantly admits it's a reality and the joint CEO's of the world's 1000 leading organisations declared at a recent meeting in Davos, Switzerland that climate change was "the most critical problem facing humanity"

Nowadays the skeptics have been reduced to individuals with no corporate or government support (except from the American Association of Petroleum Geologists - the only scientific organisation that still disputes gloobal warming).

The number of skeptics is in freefall, in a recent worldwide poll conducted in 30 countries around the world only 8% of respondents stated that they did not consider climate change to be a serious problem. http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/articles/btenvironmentra/187.php?nid=&id=&pnt=187

In short, the skeptics are few in number, have no support behind them, no cohesion, no organisation, no credible scientific evidence but they do make a lot of noise.

If you do want to make people aware then perhaps the best advice is to educate people, respect that everyone is entitled to their opinions even if you disagree, don't force your ideas down other people's throats and be honest. Never exaqgerate or make things up, use irrefutable scientific evidence and obtain your facts and arguments from first hand sources (not the media which often distorts things).

There are very few people in the world who are not aware of Global Warming. The very few people who are not aware of Global Warming have probably been comatose for the last twenty years. .

The challenge is to determine the proper course of action to take.

According to the best estimates, if we are to stop Global Warming we must reduce carbon dioxide emissions world wide to less than one tenth of what they are today.

The only way to accomplish that would be to shut down all of the economies of the world.

The result would be a severe world wide depression, human misery and death on a scale that is unimaginable.

To get this reduction world wide would require the cooperation of all of the countries in the world.

The People's Republic of china has stated emphatically that they will not reduce their consumption of fossil fuel and in fact they plan to increase their consumption of fossil fuel and the carbon dioxide emissions that accompany the use of fossil fuel.

China alone emits enough carbon dioxide to cause Global Warming.

China will not reduce its output of carbon dioxide voluntarily.

Essentially we cannot stop Global Warming by means that are acceptable in a civilized society.

Fortunately we can mitigate the effects of Global Warming if we start now.

The sea levels will rise. Fortunately coastal cities can be protected by dike systems similar to those in Holland that are used to hold back the sea.

Hurricanes will become stronger and more frequent. We need to help the poor countries upgrade their disaster preparedness systems.

Droughts will become more frequent. We will need to help the poor countries with supplemental water supplies and desalination plants.

We cannot stop Global Warming but we can mitigate the effects of Global Warming at reasonable cost if we start now.

.

We need our media to make people aware and educate more about the facts and go over all theories out there.

They go to great lengths to tell us every day anything bad that happened in Bagdad because it supports their agenda against Bush. The seldom give us any good in depth information about global warming which according to some can be the end of civilization if not stopped. How ridiculous is that?

The world is already aware of "global warming" as a theory to explain the warming of the planet, but we're just not doing much about it!

The saddest part of the situation of global warming is nodoubt that people still believe it's not happening. And really well to do ones, not just illeterates.
People should be shown footages of the melting glaciers , polar caps with a comparison with past pictures.
Community projects are very important.

The attitude to this disaster should infact be quite similar to the attitude taken to depose AIDS.

And state level actions like reducing conventional sources of energy, shifting to cleaner sources like solar, water etc. should be started.

Onething the govt. can surely do. Mr. Amitabh Bachaan represents the face of polio fight, AIDS fight. It's time high personalities start to use their domain importance to promote the cause of reducing greenhouse gases & make people feel the real fear & shiver they already should start feeling with the situation.

We can do following steps to make the people of the world to be aware:
We can introduce other ways of sources like using electricity that too from hydro{water} and wind, in automobiles. This has been already introduced but has not been used by people. We have to bring advantages in these types of automobiles and also we have to bring it to people through advertisements I think this is enough to stop global warming because per day pollution produced by the world is so high.

We are aware. We have been for quite a while now. We just believe that either:

1) It is NOT due to mankind.

or

2) Unless we kill off a vast majority of the population or have a massive change in the standard of living, nothing can be done about it.

So have another massive polluting concert that all the stars flew to so that I can be "more aware" of it please.

Actually the people should start teaching their small children to worry about global warming,b'coz it is very difficult to teach the older ones. The next generation is who are going to suffer from global warming,so definately they may be well aware about this danger.
