Leanne, I am going to talk to you as your belief requires. You have become a Christian. Then Jesus has forgiven you of all pst sins, don't look back on those lok only ahead.
Now when a person becomes a Christian and keeps willfully sinning that is another matter. Struggling with sin and falling and icking oneself up is not wrong, but you know the ones i am talking about. The people who condemn others and then you find out they do worse things but tell us to keep our mouths shut because God is working on them.
an example, I worked with a woman who had lived with her boyfriend 8 years and never married, had three kids by him but her kids did not have daddy's name. this woman went to church, spoke in tongues every sunday, had dreams and visions and went around telling us we were going to hell, I was a Christian at the timejust not her type Christian, she eve stole and wrote bad checks, but we were going to hell because she was a servant of God and one ogf go's anointed.
She had not control over sin in her life but condemned everyone else.
I know you know this is wrong and I don't think you do this, I am just trying to get you to realize that as long as you try and keep trying really trying, not pretending like this woman, then according to the bible you should not worry and fel bad.
Now if you ever do like this woman, you should feel bad, but unfortunatly these kind of people never feel bad.
Take care of yourself.

That's exactly the way the "devil" wants you to feel, not the Lord. Jesus did not sacrifice His life so you would feel ashamed, pitiful, etc. He died so you could know how very much He loves you #1, but also so you can be free from all the devil's lies whose main purpose is to remind you of past sins and weigh you down so that you never rise up and claim that all my sins in the past are "under the blood of Jesus Christ" so that you will "continue on" and run the race set before you. Satan does not want us to run this heavenly race. He wants to trip us up with emotional baggage that Jesus has already forgiven when we receive Him as Lord. Don't you let that serpent trip you up! There is a crown of righteousness waiting for you and anyone else who finishes the race ( 2 Timothy 4:7-8; 1 Corinthians 9:24 ).

No one is perfect. No one is righteous. The sins of the most "righteous" person you know would have put Christ up on the cross even if you had never sinned.
God wants you to treat yourself as well as you treat others. Treating others better than you treat yourself is just as much of a sin as treating others worse than you treat yourself.
That makes your guilt and non-forgiveness of yourself as much of a sin as not forgiving someone else.
God forgave you. People want you to feel bad, will encourage you to feel bad.
God would like you to feel good about yourself.

No, Christians don't "feel like a wretch" because we sinned. We are FORGIVEN. God doesn't want us to feel guilty for past sins because we ARE forgiven. He no longer sees our sin because it is as far from Him as East is from West.
If you have asked God to forgive you for your past sins and truly meant it and were repentant for your sins, then they no longer exist. Get over it and move forward. Feeling guilty only destroys your life and benefits NOBODY.
If you have been forgiven, you are a "new creature in Christ." Sin is no longer part of you.

with respect
Jesus was crucified 2000 years ago
you have only recently sinned
how does your sins affect what has already happened ?
even if you had lived a perfect life without sin .... Jesus would still be crucified
as a non Christian , I am trying to understand this

It does that to me too. And that's a conscience that you are referring to. It's a God given reaction.
If you read Matthew 5, you might get a lot of that feeling, realizing that you are hopeless in obtaining perfection. So then we are directed to Christ, who died so that God would 'blot out our sins'. He 'forgets' our sins if we are in Christ.
All we have to do is trust Him.
