During the renaissance why is it that you changed the bible so much [to make sense with science] that it contradicted itself and then blamed science - and burned people at the stake etc later on?

For practicing chemistry, physics and biology - why did you condsider this as witchcraft - surely YOU were scared that you were wrong...

Moxie Crimefighter: Are you saying that evolution didn't exist? And that for a couple thousand of years mankind only existed? We evolved just accept that...

A nice way of putting it would be like this:

*If you walk on hard ground your feets soles become hardened.

*If you wear really soft shoes then your feets soles become less hardened and soft.

(In only in a couple of years I assume)

This is "quick evolution" and kind of explains evolution.

Nutsters-Chick: how do you explain Jehovah's Witnesses?

and nutsers chick: That only proves nothing but the basic evolutionary idea is accepted and logical.

They have found millions of bones that have undergone phyletic-equalibrium. Don't base your faith on a skull and bone...carbon dating was made by scientists and you just prove that you are embarrasing science. Find out for yourself...do your research I have done mine.

Carbon dating only proves how old it was NOT what it is.

It could be your own perception or you may be challenging christians with idea about evolutions. It doesnt really matter anyway, as long as you have faith and belief. All the fact, changes and constant evolution will baffled you. You may need further enlightenment, I suggest to read more literature and be open to other scientific facts. Who knows, these may lead to convergence of ideas. Peace...

1. I don't have a problem with evolution. It doesn't change my faith. God is bigger than our conceptions of how we got here, and that happened however it happened no matter what ANY of us think about it.

2. The Bible wasn't changed during the Renaissance. The canon was closed earlier than that. They've done more accurate translations since then, in fact.

3. Science is good and there are many Christians in the science world.

What nonsense have you been reading?

Aren't you the pot calling the kettle black. You read books. In this reading you will find that many scientist disagree with one another as to the correct answers. Man is an inquisitive person but his research always ends up the same way, by making his own conclusion and disagreeing with anyone whose conclusion is not the same as his. This is not just in the scientific area but in all areas of life, including christianity. It was men who wrote the Bible, hence the disagreements and differing conclusions. Christianity is a faith, just as Science, in its purest form is a faith, any subject is and will always have its disagreements that does not mean you are right and everyone else wrong. It is simply your opinion and you have no right to force your opinion on anyone else, just as they have no right to force their opinion on you. Believe what you want to, you have that right, but it does not mean you are 100% right or 100% wrong, it is just your opinion.

First, I do believe in evolution.

Second, 'we' didn't change the bible. Constantine had the Nicene counsel 'edit' the bible. They incorporated pagan beliefs into the bible. Science had nothing to do with it.

People were burned at the stake for many various reasons. Witchcraft was shunned by Christians in an age when everybody who wasn't Christian, was thought to be a witch. Ignorance was the reason for their deaths. We know better now.

Chemistry, physics, and biology are sciences and 'we' in this day and age don't consider it to be witchcraft.

You obviously dont have respect for other religions. Your opinions are yours for the keeping, just keep 'em to yourself. Apparently you think the Christians of now were there at the time of the renaissance. And "we" didnt change the Bible. How can you change the Word of God? Btw, why didnt you tell us YOUR religion?

What are you talking about? Am I supposed to suddenly be able to explain why Christians in the past did what they did?

I WASN'T THERE. I don't know.

Why do you ask Christians NOW to explain Christians THEN?

And when were chemistry, physics and biology banned? And where? Why were there so many scientists who were theists and endorsed by the church, if the church was so against science?

Well actually I wasn't around during the Renaissance. Evolution sounds very likely to me, but it doesn't destroy my faith in God. It means a few humans have got the wrong end of the stick. Shalom

PS it's pedantry that causes wars

Anyone who believes humans evolved out of a soup of bacteria, etc., don't believe God could create them. And He DID! God didn't need evolution in order to speak into existence all of His creation.

The THEORY that man evolved from apes or whatever has never been proven because there has always been what is called 'The missing link'...People have even tried to fake it unsuccesfully to try to prove science correct in its THEORIES.......There is no proof of where man came from through evolution any more than there is proof that God created us.......I have FAITH that He did!
You suggested to someone that you have done your homework and they haven't....then I guess you know all the answers....but...just one thing........Do you know my Jesus? I mean do you know Him personally? Does He answer your prayers for you? Have you given your life to Him? If so, why would you want to consider asking such questions as this?
I am a Christian and proud to be one! I believe God is the great Creator who came to earth in human form as Jesus to die for my sins and I choose to live for Him by His Holy Spirit..
Who do you live for?
Best wishes, Mike.
PS Evolution as we call it is still happening so yes I do believe in evolution.....God Created it!

Absolutely everything you say is correct, but you have one hell of a job convincing brainwashed so-called christians that the fairy-tale stories of the bible are not true.
Only the intelligent people know that.
If you could take and assess the IQ of all the dissenting answers you would find that the normal score of IQ 100 would not be reached by any twenty of them when added together.
