You plant the seed (share the Gospel) and then leave the person alone and let the Lord work...don't try to shove it down the person's throat.

Interesting story, really.
There was a really bad situation and I helped a person gain an understanding or perspective that they needed.
There was a woman there watching the situation and when it was finished and the ambulance took the person away she talked to me about it. She mentioned that she was glad one of those 'Christians' had not showed up and screwed the situation up.
I just told her that I was a Christian.
I ran into her again about five or seven years later and she thanked me. She had become a Christian.
People have really bigoted pre-conceptions about different groups of people. If you can destroy the pre-conception it is possible for them to open some people's minds.
I never try and convert people, I just live the way God directs me and if people convert it is because God spoke to them through me.
I have found that most of it depends on the person. If I mention God around a real bigot they will attack me for preaching.
If I mention God around one of the normal atheists I know they just listen to whatever I am saying and inject their own comments, just like anyone else in any other normal conversation. Usually they just smile at me, similar to the way I do when they mention they are atheists.

Why would an Atheist want Christ? And would they consider it help? I don't think so. A true Atheist would not "come to Christ" just as you may argue that a true Christian would not become an Atheist. True Atheists don't fear hell as they don't believe in it. True Christians fear God....doesn't that seem odd to fear your supposed maker?

give Him the book-the Bible.
Be a friend to clear the doubts.
introduce him to a church where he can really pray.
sit with him to actually connect with God by praying and reading and discussing scripture on a regular basis-cause there are genuine questions.some we answer, some God Himself reveals to the man's heart.
then he decides to follow Christ when he is convinced.
continue to pray/intercede for that friend continually .

It's extremely unlikely to happen. I'm a former atheist; I now do believe in a supreme being, but will never believe in Jesus.
