26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.

This references the weakness of man in contrast to Gods awesome power.

It means that God can do anything, anywhere,at anytime, and Man can only do what his strength will allow

Examples, you say?
After driving a handicap/wheelchair van for 2.5 years, I have seen many such examples. Some of those people were literally falling apart! Some believed in God , but didn't act like it. Some acted like it, but really didn't believe. I saw some get better overnight, and I saw some fall out in the chair and were dead the next day. One lady had 2 types of leukemia and hepatitis C and after talking with me, she read the places in the OT I showed her...and came back in my van 2 weeks later, completly cured. Her husband was waiting at the driveway to shake my hand. At the time I didn't know what for.
Her doctors were scratching their heads. She said she wasn't surprized, that such a thing could happen.
Another man had a mysterious lung disease...doctors didn't know what was wrong, much less how to help. I told the man he was stressing, and to deep breathe, alone, twice a day, and not to tell his family what he was doing. (His family was the source of the stress.) He came back two weeks later, and told me doctors were scratching their heads...but to keep doing whatever he was doing, as he had not used his oxygen bottle for a week, and only carried it just in case...He tried to tell doctors who helped him, and how, but they would not listen.

I saw others that had worked all their lives and were rich and had estates and houses and big families... and had to sell all they had and loved so much to pay the doctor bills and nursing homes, and the drugs they were dependent on. They whined and cried and told me how unfair it all was...and blamed God for letting it all happen to them, they that had been such 'good' people all their lives. Their children were bullying them, and would not honor their wishes, their caretakers were torturing them, and no one knew about it.
But even though they claimed religion, they did not do it, and never once did they take time to check on the less fortunate, or the mistreated, or ANYONE outside their own family. They were the ones that had been stingy and self-righteous all their lives, and said: live and let die, in their hearts.

There is no "Original text of the Bible". Every religion starting with the Roman Catholics started to take certain codices of the Word and those priests Canonized them as being the true word from God. How can that be when MAN did the selecting and choosing of which were the official "Word of God" and the rest was garbage. MAN cannot make that decision and I don't care what kind of "funny hat" he wears. My philosophy is Kindness

Why wouldnt you written the verses too, as i dont have the Bible with me I couldn't answer your question but to read the answer to see what verse did you quote.

Now I got it,

this is same as Paul writes in Galatians, He said that when I decided to follow and do the works of Christ I didn't coulsel with my flesh and Blood.

It means your flesh has its own nature that is almost always contrary to God and your heart has the same to but the "real you" or the inner man in you has the faith to stay stead fast in the love of God

26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.

Mark 12
66 While Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came by. 67 When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked closely at him.
"You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus," she said.

68 But he denied it. "I don't know or understand what you're talking about," he said, and went out into the entryway

Peter failed on both counts. But as we well know, Jesus forgave Peter, proving that God is stronger than the flesh is weak.

Er....it would help if you told us non believers what that scripture is. The only thing I know from Book of Psalms is "Turn, Turn, Turn" by The Byrds (LOL).
