Artistic Hand, I do appreciate your point, but I have to say that I have done "good" as in "for the benefit of..." many people that I did not exactly feel all warm and fuzzy about. I did it because that is my purpose in this life, to do good to others with no expectation of reward. I may not always succeed, but that is the goal.

Knowing that we may have helped somebody is reward enough.

The biggest reward at the moment I get for doing good is a smile or a kind look or a kind comment for helping someone. Often when we do good there is no immediate reward, but as a Christian I believe our reward is in heaven. It is hard to wait, but so is it hard to wait for Christmas when one is a child.

When Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior He becomes our Head and we are His body. We get heavenly rewards for what we do as His body as He directs and empowers us to do according to His will to minister to others. Our works will then be silver, gold or precious stones (done by the Holy Spirit) and not wood, hay or straw (done in our flesh). We are rewarded because we bless others and are effective witnesses of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is building treasures in heaven as the Lord Jesus has commanded us to do.

The reward is the feeling you get from making someone happy.

No rewards should follow goodness...it should at least be recognized and ackowledged by others. We should remain humble of our actions (good deeds) and still feel good inside if our deeds are for the benefit of others but ourselves...

If you are Christian, expect heaven. That is dwelling together with the HOLY GOD; getting the joy that had never been experienced and will never, no death, no hunger, no marriage, no diseases or any kind of suffering. For a non Christian there is no any hope.

(Psalm 37:11) But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

(Psalm 37:29) The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.

Why do you need a reward? To most it should come natural.

None. The less-sophisticated religions have concepts such as hell as an incentive through fear.

The more advanced traditions have deeper reasoning behind moral actions.
