15 year old girls cry. There are a lot of body changes and hormones and things happening at this age. Other people are changing, she's growing up and realizing she's not a child anymore. She's probably realizing that daddy can't fix everything anymore. It's hard at that age. I could also be something related to getting her period. And sometimes dads just don't get it. There doesn't have to be a reason. Sometimes you just feel sad and cry. Chances are it is just a normal phase and not a manic depressive state. Good luck!

Well, 15 is a tender age. She gets PMS and is still going through puberty. It's very hard to be a teen. Adults think they have it bad.... She is bothered by something. He asked "What's wrong?", but did he take the time to listen to what her problem is? Or did he go... "God, you're such a cry baby!"? Maybe she feels like she doesn't have anyone to talk to about it. If she doesn't she will keep it bottled up and will become depressed for days even weeks.
Maybe it's a boy. Maybe it's a friend. Maybe it's her period. Maybe she is insecure. Maybe her family life isn't the greatest. Maybe she is tired of dealing with others BS.
Her father isn't the one on here asking, so that tells me alot. If she is in a home where dad has a bunch of dudes over partying and she feels like a piece of furniture, with no one to talk to, I see her point of being sad.
She needs to have a loving home where she can express herself and feel loved. She needs one person to show her the right path and lead her into doing positive things to better herself. Everyone needs someone. And most importantly a good ear to listen to her...

There are a lot of reasons a 15 yr old girl would cry and feel sad. It is crappy and confusing age. The pressures from school, peers, and society in general that are placed on girls of this age are enough to make me cry!!
A young girl phase??? No a response to being unable to handle having to look just right to fit in, act just right to please your parents and still fit in, deal with madly fluctuating hormones, and then have someone that totally does not understand you. Yep--cry, be sad.
The next question he should be asking her is--Do you know why you feel sad? Followed by--Can I help you sort through anything? Followed by--I am here for you and love you, NO MATTER WHAT!!
Don't throw a label of mental illness on someone who is confused and needs understanding and love.

I must agree with "shel", most likely it is related to hormonal changes and being a female. She is becoming a woman and that involves very complicated emotions. I have a feeling that Dad is not taking the time to truly understand and he is missing out on his daughter's maturity. As a father to a teenaged girl, I don't just ask, shrug my shoulders and walk away. I treat her as a young adult, I listen, ask questions and talk to her until I fully understand what has upset her.......trust me it isn't always easy if you haven't had an open dialogue all her life.....fortunately I have encouraged my daughter to talk to me about Everything and Anything and now she trusts me enough to talk about her emotions, boys, you name it.
Of course if this girl is crying on a daily basis for a long period of time then she may have problems that require professional help..........a good parent knows the difference.

I don't think 15 month olds should be doing this. If you meant 15 year old, you should NOT have posted your question in TODDLER & PRESCHOOLER section. So, if 15 month old is crying, then there could be something wrong that you need to consult the doctor with. Perhaps there has been a change in her life, but it could be from teething pain or something internal.

Hey, a year ago I was a 15 y o girl and cried all the time for "being sad". It's just an emotional phase, and it'll be gone in a year.
Hopefully... and what's this doing in Tod. and Presc. ?

no one ever cries over not something. i realize it might desire to look small and insignificant yet whether the guy is crying using fact they're happy they're nevertheless crying over something. there is something occurring together with her you at the instant are not attentive to, or it might desire to be the traditional teenage angst (which by ways is a huge deal to her) yet the two way she needs to properly known you're there for her and care on the subject of the reality that she unhappy staggering now for even if reason.

It could be hormones, but it could also be depression. Have you talked to her teachers to see if she is displaying signs of depression at school or how she is socially among her peers? Teens are not always as open as most parents would like them to be. I would advise taking her to a doctor to rule out any physical problems as well.

Teenage girls are very emitional !!! Hormones raging, trying to find their nitch, wanting to please everyone yet unsure where they even are at in life. Please tell Dad to try and talk to her, chances are she'll cry more or even slam the door in his face. But at least she'll know he cares enough to ask. Welcome to this strange world of teenage girls. One day happy as larry next day down dooby doo op.
