Why did Noah curse Canaan when it was Ham who saw him naked? Why was Noah so angry that Ham saw him naked? Some propose that Ham and/or Canaan actually did something to Noah in addition to seeing him naked. The passage mentions that Noah was angry when he found out, "what his youngest son had done to him." Homosexuality, rape, and humiliation are frequently mentioned as possibilities. However, the text nowhere states that Ham did anything to Noah. Any view of what occurred is speculation.

Another view arises out of comparison with Leviticus 20:11, "The man who lies with his father's wife has uncovered his father's nakedness..." With Leviticus 20:11 in mind, some propose that Ham had sex with Noah's wife, and that was what brought the curse from Noah. However, this figurative understanding of "uncovering nakedness" fails to account for the fact that Shem and Japheth walked into the room backward and covered Noah with a garment. This does not make any sense if "uncovering nakedness" means "having sex with Noah's wife." It definitely seems that Noah was lying naked - his nakedness uncovered.

Genesis 9 records an incident in which Noah got drunk, and fell asleep (probably passed out) in his tent. His son Ham entered, saw his naked, and told the rest of the family about it. Then you have Noah's other sons going in a covering him up.

When Noah awakens, he is upset and puts a curse, not on Ham who saw him, but on one of Ham's son, Canaan. The reason for the curse is NOT clear in the scriputres. But it appears that Canaan did something that is not recorded in the story. Jewish tradition teaches that Canaan sodomized Noah. But that is not specifically stated in the story.

Whatever he did, it caused Noah to place a curse on him so that his surviving descendants would end up as slaves to the Jewish people. It is his discendants, the Canaanites, who the Jews would displace (and for the most part kill) when they took over the Promised Land under Joshua.

No. You're thinking of Genesis 19:4.

Two angels (both men) were staying at Lot's house for the night, and the townsmen gathered at Lot's door and asked him to send out the two new guys so they could "know them" in the Biblical sense.

To save the two angels, Lot offered up his two virgin daughters, and told the men at his door that the could "do to them as you please. Only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof."

The two angels destroyed the city, but helped Lot and his family get out first. Against their advice, Lot's wife looked back and turned to salt. But Lot and his daughters escaped and went to live in a cave.

Lot's daughters figured they wouldn't be able to find men for themselves, what with cities in the valley being destroyed by angels, so they got their Dad drunk two nights in a row, each seduced him and later each had children by him.

Is that the story you were thinking of?

I do not know but if he did he did wrong. The Bible tells about the things that happened but does not give an exhaustive answer to our questions.

Everything recorded in the Bible is not something that is God's will for us.

Noah's son had sex with his own mother, while Noah was passed out drunk.

The offspring who resulted from this was cursed by Noah.

The bible explains the sin later:

Lev 18:5 Keep my laws and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them, I am the Lord.
Lev 18:6 No man shall approach to her that is near of kin to him, to uncover her nakedness. I am the Lord.
Lev 18:7 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother: she is thy mother, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
Lev 18:8 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's wife: for it is the nakedness of thy father.
