Well again I didn't want to incur the cost of a DSLR, I wanted very good 11X14 prints or larger. Torn between the Canon A630 and the Fuji E900. Put the order in yesterday at Beach Camera for E900 at $208. Any ideas on how 11 X14s or larger will turn out?

Like regular film, you will see some degrading and flaws in the photo when you enlarge from digital. In fact, sometimes, it is worse because of the nature of digital (pixilating, blocky edges, separation of graduated lights or colours).

Fuji's E900's 9 megapixels should give you a very good 11X14 and probably larger, if I recall correctly. The highest we sold in the stores in the time I worked in retail camera was 5 megapixel and they were recommended for 11x14 and higher, so 9 should be excellent.

The canon A 630, therefore, should be more than adequate for an 11x14 with 8 megapixels. Just keep in mind the more megapixels you have, the bigger you can go with little degradation. Canon, it has been my prior experience, has a faster recycling time-that is, you won't have to wait as long to take the next photo. However, the Fuji offers a larger pixel size, which will allow for better quality photos and larger image sizes.
