Everyone onboard had to help with the animal waste. It wasn't thrown overboard however. It was stored. In a very special location. Yes, that's right===The POOP DECK.

"...shoveling all that poop on a daily basis." More like constantly. Time and the calendar were inventions that came later, presumably, but if Noah's clock (which did not yet exist) was the same as ours in the 21st century, the shoveling behind that many critters would have gone on around the 'clock.' Ouch, what a job! Of course, no matter. The story of the Flood was taken from many other flood stories which thrived over thousands of years among the primitives. It did not happen in fact, it's yet another OT fairy tale that illiterate common folk of the time could understand. The OT and the NT are overflowing with 'em.

Good point but largely irrelevant, since it's rather impossible the number of animals could have fit on the ark to begin with (remember: the OT gives dimensions).

Maybe like Hercules in the Augean stables, a wave was diverted through the one window on a regular basis to clean out the poop.
God could be just that thoughtful!

maybe they had poop chutes, so the poop would just slide out the side of the arc somewhere. that's what i would have done. it would be a poop-shovel-free set-up.

40 days and 40 nights of shoveling poo. Now that is dedication to God if there ever was.
