Iraq will not stabilize until the west stops trying to force a western style government on these non-western people.

First we (USA) tried to convince the world that there was a viable military solution. That obviously didn't work.

Then we said there had to be a political solution, and the sectarian violence violence suggests that's not going to work.

The only solution that will work in that part of the world is a religious solution. These people have centuries of tradition that accepts and embraces theocratic government.

Until the religious leaders endorse and embrace change that they can all live with from a religious standpoint, the killing will go on and on and on and.....

The Islamic religious leaders must come together, in a global conference. Not just the leaders in Iraq, or Iran or the immediate region, but world wide, USA included.

Clerics who do not denounce the perversion of Islam should be Identified by their peers as such, so they and the world realize exactly who is out of the mainstream of Islamic thought.

Failure to denounce the violence is tacit support of that violence, and so far the American Islamic clergy is earning a failing grade, as are indeed most Islamic clergy world-wide.

From such a world-wide conference could emerge a leader who could save millions of Innocent lives.

Muhammad Ali.

Could he be such a leader? Could he save this country from it's own government one more time? Few individuals have the world-wide respect he has.

Of course Bush would have to accept his foreign policy as a complete failure, and be willing to let another American negotiate in good faith. Sadly, that seems unlikely.

technically, the united states already won the war. it was a cinch, yeah. it's maintaining peace and turning Iraq into a democracy that's killing the soldiers. (ironic eh?) the reason prez. bush isn't withdrawing is: if he does, than most likely the remnants of democracy already installed into Iraq will fall and all those lives wasted will b for nothing at least.. that's the official reason y troops aren't withdrawing. but technically, yes, the war was over a looong time ago.

As long as our *** holes point to the ground, there will never be political stability in Iraq. Too many religious control freaks!

It probably can't be at the current rate its going. They have had an election and its still a complete mess. As soon as our troops leave it will be hell. Much similar to the way it is when we're there.
