They may believe stupid books, but some can spell. Some of those who cannot spell have mastered the intricacies of the spell checker.

If you have or ever will do any sort of historical search of the origins of the written language, you would have found that when people learned to create an alphabet, it was considered a miraculous event.
Going from pictographs, which we still in modern times don't understand, and lets face it, they weren't that artistically gifted...to all of a sudden having an alphabet which can be taught and EVERYONE can understand and communicate. Ancient people thought that writing was a sacred blessing, that God had sent men knowledge to communicate. You'll see that the most oldest writings are always holy texts and were always in the vicinity or in the possession of kings and noblemen.
People then were more unified in believing in the existence of a God. To call it stupid, you're mocking a world in which you live in. Thanks to people who took language and books seriously and used it to communicate knowledge which lands us here with this java script or whatever computer language you want to call it, the ability to communicate online would have never happened.
Reading and writing was a privilege then in ancient times, and even not that far into our past (1800s) did most people classify as illiterate.
Stupid books, no. It was the beginning of an era that awakened man to increasing in knowledge. Whether it's of God or not, if it sounds far fetched or real, it's all left to your interpretation, but NEVER should a text of any kind be called stupid.

While as you say there are people who blindly believe the Bible or other holy books, there are also people who blindly disbelieve the books without even looking to see, that is like the doctor giving you medicine that will save your life but you blindly decide it will noty work without even trying it, Well I believe the Bible, but not blindly, because I stuidied it carefully before I took it serious, and I found out that it is very very serious, whereas you by what you are saying sounds to me like although you know not much about the Bible are blindly refusing even to look at it, but that is your choice but I chose to look at it and learn, instead of just assuming the book to be stupid. Assumption is not necessarily truth. And though you may have shown up many pastors or preachers, you have not shown up the Bible.

I think you red more legends than holy books . Why do believe in the miracles of science and refuse the heavenly ones ? Why do believe that man can walk on the moon, reach Mars, etc and disbelieve in other sort of miracles . Those who lived in the previous century believed it it were hallucination to talk about the earth going round the sun. Could they think of man going out of the solar system ? Could they believe in anything we do on the Internet now ?

If those things really happened, where did God go?
I have heard God is waiting for everyone to come to repentance, but since people are continually being born, does that mean there is reincarnation? If there is reincarnation, how do we learn the lessons of past lives if we don't remember those lives?
Which is it? I don't see much case for any of them.

Humans and sheep are a prime example of convergent evolution.
The average member of each species has no desire to think for itself and strives at all times to remain with the rest of the herd regardless of where the herd is headed.

People, as a species, all have one common fear, and that's death. They look to things to give them answers. Why they die. Where they go. Why they're on Earth. Everything. If someone blindfolded you, and told you to hold their hand, trust them, and let them guide you through life, before hand never having a purpose or reason for your existance, would you follow? Many would. This is the bible, and religion in general. It gives people hope, it gives them reason, and it gives them closure as to what will happen to them. However, they hang on to this hope so strongly, their very being refuses to let go of it. They will not sway in the belief of heaven. Because they want it to be real.

Because people experience trials and tribulations that can be assuaged by the beatitudes of these holy books.
People will overlook a lot of nonsense if they find something else of value to them. People will suspend disbelief without much prompting. It's easier to be intellectually lazy than to wrestle a concept to the ground and make it give.
