It is possible to laugh due to stress. It also sounds like you are overly tired as well, and I always get hysterical and laugh hilariously when I get so tired. You need to find an outlet for your stress. You need to be able to let go of your stress at least long enough to sleep. It might help if you make a list, decide what you are going to do or what you are going to do the next day, and then allow yourself to relax knowing that you've already made a decision about it. Also, tell yourself that you dont' have to have all teh answers right now. All you need to know if the first step. And then you take that step. And then you figure out the next step. And then you take that step. You get the idea. Break down the things that you have to accomplish, for instance, in this way. Take them one at a time. And prioritize them by what needs to be done now, first. And don't worry about anything else until that is done, for instance.
At night, when you are trying to sleep, don't allow yourself to think about what needs to be done or what is bothering you. Allow your mind to disengage, to go blank. Allow imagines, abstract, to go through your head. Or pick a place where you would really like to go that is relaxing for you, and imagine yourself there and how you would feel if you were there. Allow yourself to imagine all the details and don't allow other thoughts to pop in.
your body is telling you that you are not handling stress very well and it will continue to get worse if you dont' handle it now.
I also suggest, if these things don't work, seeking help from a doctor and a psychiatrist/psychologist about the sleep disturbances and your stress. You can talk to someone and let this go. They are there to help you figure out how to do that.
Good luck to you.

I vomit every time i eat to!!!!!!!!! Violently.
I also suffer from insomnia and would be up for days at a time. So the dr put me on an antiphsycotic for it and it really worked. full blown insomnia can be controlled by a good antiphsycotic. anti depressants arnt strong enough when the insomnia is severe. im on a drug called zyprexa and it works great. I now get 10 hours sleep every night.
When your sleep deprived your body starts to play up. you cant see well, you cant eat, your muscles get stiff and your lymphatic system shuts down. so the first thing that you need to do is get the insomnia under controll. dont bother with herbal teas or home remedy crap, its not strong enough. talk to your dr. as for the laughing i would say that is your body trying to cope. Practise breathing escercises when the stress gets to much. if you cant get at least a few minutes respite then you will go insane. Dont do this alone, talk to your g.p, get some sleep and i bet that you will find that you can cope. not being able to think straight and not concentrating is all part of the sleep deprivation. Give the meds some time to work and if they dont work try something else. when youve got your sleeping under controll if you still find yourself not coping see a phsycologist or a counseller for expert advice.
goodluck i hope that you get some sleep, Violet

Yes, the laughing can be caused by stress. I have laughing fits like that on a regular basis. I even broke into one at my moms funeral.

Try doing yoga and meditation, that usually helps me with my stress. Read a good book get caught up in someone else's problems instead of you own. Take a long walk. See professional help if necessary. Spend a hour a week doing something you enjoy and forgetting you problems.

As for the eating. Stay away from dairy for a while. The stress is causing extra acid in your stomach and it will curdle the milk. Eat crackers, pasta, breads stuff that soaks up the acid.

Change your life and do it quickly. Put yourself in a position of control and never let anyone or anything shorten your life. If you can't get it together, then get out and find something else to do. Remember that stress is your reaction to your surroundings. You are doing it to yourself and are out of control. It's kind of amazing, if you get to a place where you are just tired of all the bs, your attitude will change and things will fall into place. Try to get it under control before you get to that stage. If people, places or things put you in a position so that you can't reach expectations, then change their expectations.

From your statement, it would appear you are in serious need of counseling. There is a mental health diagnosis of hysterical laughing that you may have properly identified as a source of your laughing.
In such regard it would appear you may well benefit from counseling in which testing may help identify those things in your life that need to be removed in order to alleviate stress.
These things conceivably may involve a change in occupation, friends, habits and being given the mental tools to apply in which to identify stressors in your life in which case you are a winner all-round.
Get counseling.
