Guru Nanak Dev ji is a spark of the divine. He was sent on earth when India was full of hypocricy, social evils...people forgetting the real meaning of Sanatan Dharma. Guru Nanak Dev ji reminded us of the truth, in plain understandable language.
I like the most his doha -
Sadguru ham par kripa kari... tab ye jugati pichhani
Nanak leen bhayo Gobind mein ...jyon Pani mein pani.
His Japuji sahib is great philosophy of Upanishadas, translated into simple language so that common man can understand God
Dhan dhan guru nanak pragateya...jag chanan hoya

Guru Nanak was a realized soul. So was Kabir das, Mahatma Gandhi, and numerous others. God does not need a special messenger. We all are God, but we do not know it. Tat Tvamasi Translation: tat = That tvam = You asi= becoming or are Meaning: You are That The Context This mahavakya is an expression of Uddalaka Aruni made to his son while imparting him the knowledge of self, which is recorded in the sixteen chapters of the sixth Prapathaka (section) of the Chandogya Upanishad. Uddalaka Aruni was one of the earliest revealers of the Upanishads, who believed the knowledge of self to be the real knowledge. When he saw his son returning home with pride after completing his formal education under a teacher for 12 years, he decided to teach him the knowledge of self and put him on the right path. Using several examples and reminding him constantly that he (Svertaketu) was indeed none other than That (the highest Being or the Self) itself, he imparted to him the secret knowledge of the self. At the end of the conversation Svetaketu overcame his ignorance and understood what true knowledge meant.

Hare Krsna!
Our Guru Srila Prabhupada had great respect for Guru Nanaka.

Guest (2): Srila Prabhupada, in the Sikh-dharma they say to chant the holy names of God, and so far I haven't encountered the name "Krsna" in the scriptures. I have encountered "Govinda," "Mukunda," "Rama" and..., but the main name that is chanted is Viduh. And I was wondering if you could comment on..., on the Sikh-dharma.
Prabhupada: It is very good. It is very good. Guru Nanak, he chanted the name, holy name of Rama, the holy name of Krsna, Govinda. So if we follow Guru Nanak, we are fortunate. Anyone who presents a science of God, it doesn't matter whether he is this man or that man; he is our guru.

How come you are a strong believer and still afraid of criticism?
How do you think Guru Nanak handled criticism in his lifetime, for he had many who opposed his radical views.
The world is large enough for all opposites, and we only need to make our heart large enough, to accommodate them too, as only then can we can truly follow the philosophy of Ek Nirankar, of Oneness of all.
As the God that resides in you, also resides in those who oppose you, as well.

Guru Nanak was an Indian man of fourteenth or fifteenth century, from Punjab. He was basically a hindu, but he read Quran also. Then he found the truth that there is only one God (Rab, Lord). then he preached about his universal ideas to hindus and muslims. He called his followers Sikh, which in punjabi means learners. His religion is believe in ONE God but it is not a religion but a revolutionary thought. He wrote a book called Garanth. Which has instructions for good life. When he died muslim wanted to bury and hindus wanted to burn. but his body dis-appeared as it is narrated. He was a good man following no religion but believing in religion of humanity.

It's good that he told the people Allah (God) was everywhere, though the Muslims have already been told... 1400 years or so ago... that fact. And there were no Prophets sent to mankind since Muhammad (peace be upon him). Only those who willingly accept Islam after hearing about it will be on the true path, which will guide them to Paradise. Allah (God) knows best!
