oxycontin is a narcotic painkiller, which would make more of a downer but that is not really the right slang term. Downers are typically tranquilizers

If it relieves your physical pain and makes you function better, I'd say its a upper. Chronic pain is depressing too.

it's like H. so basically its whatever until you get addicted and start robbing people for the money to buy it. then one night you do way too much and die. i would consider that down.
