An indicator would be to aim for 1,000 calories per day from a well balanced died including dairy, grains, veg, meat, etc.
Do some exercise to get & keep your metabolism going Plenty of fruit for snacking on and replacing large evening meals.
Keep off the alcohol, sweets, chocolate and cakes.
All told, this should drop at least 1 kilo per week over a sustained period and by the time you have achieved your target weight you should have got into a healthy eating pattern which will keep it off.

my mom was recomended to loose weight due to health issues and its like the "low carb diet" where u can have carbs but u balance it. like if ur eating out and u want bread, don't have desert, and vice-versa, and eat little amounts of everything through-out the day. most important don't starve urself then have a huge meal! trust me u'll beat urself up =(. By the end of this 1 month experiment my mom lost up to 20 Lbs!! stay consistent even after u loose ur desired weight loss, and become active, as much as u can. and its not hard too either, like if ur going up stairs, squeeze ur glutes while going up (if u wanna shape ur bums....yes i tried it..it works! and when i say squeez, not with ur hands) and belly dancing shape ur abs really nicely =O! anyways do the regimen i explained above and u'll loose weight fast and u won't be hungry cuz u'll be eating! have fun with it and stay on track, nothings worst then gaining back weight u toiled to loose =(

Yes-eat mainly unprocessed plant foods like beans,legumes and soy for protein. Add whole grains and whole grain products to be sure to get all your amino acids. If you eat meat, fish or dairy make it low fat. Include plenty of veggies and fruit, limit sugar and processed grains,use small amounts of unsaturated fats like olive, canola and safflower oil and there you go.
With a bit of aerobic exercise and strength training you will soon be fit.

To loose weight subsitute chocolate with cereal bars and crisps with dried fruit. Make smoothies as well!

THings like grapfruit, lemon, onions are fat burning, Veggies fruit, jucies, etc.. should do the trick, If you must drink stay with clear spirits such as Vodka, gin and tonic, tequilla silver. no surgary ones like sambucca. Stay away from pasta's bread, and dairy.
