I don't think you're an insomniac. I think you just got yourself into a bad habit. Don't try to go to sleep at 10 pm right off the bat. Start around 3 am. Turn off all of the lights, tv, radio, etc. Find the most comfortable position in bed, take a good long stretch and then breathe deeply and slowly. With each exhale, relax your body a little more starting with your toes and feet. Slowly work your way up to your ankles, calves, knees, thighs, etc., until you get to your head (I don't usually make it to my lower back before I'm out cold). Do this every night at an earlier time and set your alarm for the morning... Earlier and earlier each day until you are getting up and going to sleep at the right time. By the time school starts up again, it shouldn't be a problem any more. Good luck... sweet dreams.

I am the same way. I stay up late and I sleep in late. I contribute some of it to this machine, some to T.V., and some to the fact that I was born in the afternoon, so that's when I like to wake up. It may sound silly but try meditating, it helps you to relax. Also I don't think you are an insomniac because you do sleep. Most insomniac's don't sleep for long periods of time, I think, anyway try running around the block before you go to sleep, it will make you tired. Reading always helps me fall asleep so you can try that as well. Whatever you do try out a bunch of things before you have to go back to school that way if you are having a problem you can go to a doctor and get some help there.

Good luck, hope I helped.

I wouldn't label you as an insomniac but as a typical college student with messed up sleeping habits =)

I can relate. There's no use of going to bed at 11pm if I'll be tossing and turning til 4am.

I suggest cutting back on caffine. Try sacrificing sleep for a week and get up at 6am everyday. Sure you'll be so fuxxing tired but it's better to get adjusted now than in September ;)

Cheers

Merriam Webster defines insomnia as prolonged and usually abnormal inability to obtain ADEQUATE sleep. If your usual sleep is restful, then no. It sounds like your internal clock off. You'll have to "reset" it. Here's how:

First thing, if you're awake at 6:00am then make yourself stay away until 8 or 9pm that night. If that isn't possible then get a nap, set your alarm for 10:00am, then get up and carry out your day. Even if nightfall comes around and you still can't sleep you'll just have to keep doing this until finally your internal clock is reset. You'll be surprised how fast your internal clock resets when your body realizes that it's not going to rest on it's own time.

I do find it difficult to sleep sometimes but a psychologist told by brother if you tense all the muscles in your body for around 15-20 seconds and then release it will help you fall asleep, also don't eat or have caffine before you sleep, exercise and little before sleep, don't watch tv while your in bed and sleep with the lights off, this has worked for me a lot, try it I'm sure it will help us to, sweet dreams =)

yes
Do you have any other disorders.

Some times this is linked to a neurochemical disorder.

Many people with parkinson's, fibromyalgia. and restless leg syndrome. have this type of sleep disorder.

I have this due to fibromyalgia and restless leg syndrome.
It is due to your body not putting out the neurochemical at the proper time. or not putting out one of the chemical at a high enough level.

Now that i have told you that you will find that most doctors will do nothing to treat you. Except give you a few weeks sleeping pills.
