Christianity and feminism are not compatible! Unless of course you're talking about watered-down versions of both.

"I listen to feminists and all these radical gals -- most of them failures. These women just need a man in the house. That's all they need. Most of the feminists need a man to tell them what time of day it is and to lead them home. They blew it and they're mad at all men. Feminists hate men. They're sexist. They hate men -- that's their problem."
— Jerry Falwell
Well, I totally concur." –Pat Robertson to Jerry Falwell following the Sept. 11 attacks, after Falwell said, "I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face and say: "You helped this happen."
"I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it is, period."

There's been a two thousand year tradition of removing women from the Christian faith. Fortunately we have documents like the Gospel of Mary that let us see how early the men started their take over. What's around now is a GHOST of the original faith but the key is still there even in the limited scriptures that evil men allowed you to keep. Love your God with all your heart mind and soul and love your neighbor as yourself. To get an idea how sweeping this love is Jesus said "Love your enemies"
There's a much bigger role for women to fill then whats been let on. Do a Google on Gnostic or Sophia or the Gospel of Mary and read for yourself.
May you find the hidden love that you knew was there all along but were either to afraid or angry to see before.
May God bless all of you of every faith, race, nationality, gender, and sexual preference. Jesus loves you all. He does hate Hypocrites so check yourself....
Blessed Be!

Dear Lindsey P,
i think that Christianity and Feminism ought to be compatible. Feminism is about equality between men and women, and the Bible does teach that there is no distinction male, female, Jew, Greek etc. when it comes to being able to receive God's love.
The Bible teaches that men are to love and cherish women, although it does also teach that men and women have different roles within a family, and the church. It does not mean that women are not equally as capable- but God does teach values that some might find old-fashioned. God does not always explain why that is the way that it is- and i think for people to portray an inaccurate picture- that this or that was created to control woman, etc. is unfair and inaccurate.
Hope that helps. Kindly and respectfully,
Nickster

I truthfully do no longer think of so. properly ok, whilst you are going to study the bible and take it at face cost, then i assume some could argue confident, yet we could keep in mind that the bible became a e book written by making use of human beings, in a particular time and place, and consequently it includes with it the cultural features of the human beings who wrote it, and a great style of it extremely is misinterpreted whilst it extremely is belived be conscious by making use of be conscious, and introduced verbatim. So as quickly as we glance previous the passages that individuals like to hold up as an indication of anti-feminist rhetoric interior the bible, and we glance on the real which potential and fee of what the bible teaches, i do no longer think of it extremely is contradictory to feminism. Now, then you could define what feminism is... so as that's an entire different tale. however the Judeo-Christian teachings uphold appreciate for human beings, love, compassion, freedom, and forgiveness. i do no longer think of any of those issues are threatening to females.

Yes considering that the Bible has many passages that suggest that women are the property of their men. In the old testament there are many atrocities aimed right at women, children, and women with child, and several stories where women were to be turned to sex crazed mobs instead of the men that were wanted. All in all the Bible degrades women to second class citizens and has no place in a society as advanced and with ethics and morals such as ours.

It depends on what you mean by feminism? Christianity and feminism are not incompatible if you mean: Equal pay for Equal work; Woman having civil rights like to vote or take part in the government; Women's Health issues; and women being equal partners in the home.
If by feminism you mean: Equal access to abortion; promotion of one groups rights over another; work for gay marriage laws; and things of such nature, then I guess they are incompatible.

Well, Christianity and feminism both are very nebulous concepts, so hard lines can't be drawn. One can be both feminist and Christian. There is a negative correlation between the two. Literalist interpretations of the Bible don't allow much room for, say, attempts to eliminate all distinction between the societal roles of the sexes.

Yes they are. If you actually read the bible there are numerous passages that talk about; the fact that women are forbidden from speaking in church, if a woman has a spiritual question she is to ask her hubby for he is the religious authority in the home. Women are also forbidden to teach in the Bible. The Bible is highly sexist.
Do a Google Video search on the video "The Bible is Repulsive" it will list the actual passages.

true feminism, yes. Militant feminists, no.
It is better to think of oneself as a member of the human race rather than a lesser being. I may bury my head in the sand about this issue, but the truth is, you cannot find equality between someone who is 5'4" and someone who is 6'4". There is one foot difference, and probably 5 pounds body weight more per inch. Intellectually, thought-processing, thinking in more than 2 dimensions, women are inferior in general terms. Emotionally, women tend to be "weaker" (or you may say "more honest"), although I have come to believe that in the business world, the former is more true, because I have seen it. Women are meaner than men. Even in the animal world, this is true. A dog will love everyone, but a b*tch is a better watchdog. Don't ever come between a mother bear and her cubs, et al.
Women aren't that great of a creature, truth be told. They sell themselves down more often than not. A strong and good woman is a rare thing.
So when I want to edify myself as a woman and as a brainy sort of person, I read up on genetic history and get the best chuckle of all.
Get this gem of knowledge: we share a gene with a woman that is over 150,000 years old, but a gene in common with modern man? he did not appear until 60,000 years ago.
What this means to me is that our genetic make up was better and stronger (more successful) than his by about 90,000 years. So HA!
Eve was created before Adam.

Check out what the idiot Pat Robertson had to say on the issue:
"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians." (Pat Robertson direct mail, Summer 1992)
