they won't taste the same as what was in the jar before yours.
they will absorb some taste and get softer. but the acutal pickling process is more complex then slicing and reusing or using pickle juice and sealing the jar.
you will have a "version" of pickles.

I use to work in a deli and some folks would ask for the 5 gal
containers with the pickle brine when we had finished selling
the pickles. But I never got any feedback on how the pickles
(pickling cukes) turned out.

Im thinking you will end up with pickle flavored cucumbers. In the canning process there is heat involved, in the plain juice there wouldnt be. Plus the jar needs to be sealed so they wont go bad. In any case give it a shot and let us know how it turns out!

i don't think so but my boyfriends grandpa has about 15 jars he canned himself in the kitchen. all you need is mason jars and a box or jar of rock salt. the package tells you how much to use usually. If you slice the cucumbers you get some awesome hamburger dill slices. And you have to use pickling cucumbers they are right above or next to regular ones. I'm not sure if you get the same effect from regular ones or not.

i don't think you're asking for a recipe as much as you're just curious. i'm with you on this one. i say give it a try. can't hurt. but i think you'd have to leave it there an awfully long time to see anything happen. pickles made according to the recipe take some time to become "pickles" so i'd assume your techinique would take far, far longer. unless you're really just that curious, i think a trip to the grocery store would save you the effort and refrigerator space. lol
