As for saving calories drink on the rocks or straight up.

It's true, try white rum with soda water and a few lime wedges, it's not as good as a long island ice tea or anything else really but you will loose weight, otherwise stick to wine, vodka and watch the mixers, calories in juice and pop are murder!

I don't think the liquor is what is fattening but the sodas usually mixed with it, if drinking beer drink a light beer.

you have to substitute the drinks for other consumption.
One ounce of alachol is about 100 calories and beer is higher maybe 800 calories.
so if you want to have a few drinks you have to eliminate some of the food stuff.

here's a little secret my friends and i have discovered. if u drink scotch STRAIGHT UP not on the rocks, not cut with anything, it will actually help burn more calories. 2 of my friends were on one of those doctor's diet plans where they lost like 30 lbs and were told that if they must they should drink and good scotch on the rocks. its an acquired taste but it gets u drunk and burn cal's!
plus u look like old money if ur seen drinking it in public! ;)

Drink whatever you want, Just eat less.... Instead of cereal for breakfast go with Beeriooo's, Have liquid lunches, And so on, You'll actually lose weight....

light beer is low cal if you only have one! or a glass of wine. but anytime you drink a mixed drink (fruity drink) you are going to get a lot of calories and sugar!
