I was not jogging before but when I did I found out that jogging burns fats in parts of the body like hips and buttocks which I did not feel that running burns them.

The late Jim Fixx defined running as an activity where both feet are off the ground at the same time. So running and jogging both fit that definition.

Burning fat requires that you run or jog longer and slower, at an aerobic rate, and that you continue longer than 30 minutes. About 30 minutes of aerobic exercise, the body begins to burn fat instead of glycogen ( muscle sugar). The longer you exercise aerobically, the longer your body burns calories AFTER you stop exercising.

Good luck.

If you want to burn fat you need to do more than just cardio. You need to weight train as well. The weight training promotes lean muscle growth which,in turn, increases metabolism. As far as the cardio, I suggest doing intervals which means alternating between maximum(or near maximum) speed running and then going to a slow jog or walk. Do ratios of this such as 1:1(1 min run w/1 min walk) or 2:2 etc. for apx 20-30 min every second day. The intervals helps increase VO2 intake and burns calories at a higher rate than running/jogging at steady pace and also burns calories better throughout the rest of the day. Do weights 3 times a week or so and alternate body parts. Seriously, cardio alone will not burn fat effectively you need weights.
