I do believe it is spiritual. If you do or do not I want to know why you believe what you do. I want to know not only what you believe, but why you believe it.

The reason I believe America's juvenile delinquency problem is a spiritual one, is because in school, God (who commanded thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not commit adultery, and so forth) has been removed, and then they are taught they are no more than animals (why not act like animals then, right?) Thus, they could care less about God or doing as Christ commanded, to love your neighbor as yourself.

You know Jonathan, I think it is a combination of things. Yes I think a good bit of it is Spiritual because the family unit doesn't worship together like they did 20 years ago. I was a single mother raising a son. Church was an off and on again part of our lives. He was saved at 14 and we were very involved in our church at that time. He had a good youth leader and I do think it made a difference in his behavior as it caused him to stop and think before he did some things that his "peers" at school were doing. I also kept very involved in his day to day activities and expected him to adhere to my household rules and treat me as well as teachers and other authority figures with respect. He turned out to be a great guy. He is happily married , never broken the law, and is a successful business person at the ripe old age of 26. So I think it was a combination of hands on parenting, caring enough to know him, where he was, who he was with, and what he was doing and spirituality. The major part of his success is credited to Christ though. He definitely changed my son through salvation.

This is a spiritual problem! Another indication we are living in a time before the appearance of the Lord! It is not surprising though, with the loss of morality and parents just about pushing young teens to become sexually active by providing suggestive clothing for their young girls! What else could one expect when children are not given the traditional "models" of a faithful and loving father and husband and a moral and upright mother? Parents are told to spank their children is "abusive". Children grow up thinking there are no such thing as limits to their behavior and they end up out of control. Sometimes a child needs a firm hand to turn a stray path around! It is high time that parents understand what they are doing to their children by neglecting to provide boundaries for behavior! Parents also need to bring God into their parenting again and teach their kids about the Almighty! They need to bow their heads at the supper table in prayer together! The family is the barometer by which the strength of countries are measured. Since the family is the backbone of society, strong families = strong nations!

It is obvious that as a society we are drifting away from God, and Christian family values. The things we see on t.v. now are far more perverted than Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom or Disney that we watched 30 years ago. The Ten Commandments are removed from court houses etc.

People wont even talk openly about God any more for fear of looking foolish. That is sad. Christ bore our shame, and it is a shame we cant proudly proclaim Him.

I don't think juvies have the skills to work on a spiritual life. Usually they are kids in poverty from broken home facing drop out. They have more on their plate than they can say grace over so spiritual thinking doesn't usually weigh in. Then you add the unwed teen moms and all of her daily challenges and I am unable to see a remedy that is spiritual. I don't see a spiritual protocol that can be used for juveniles that would solve the myriad of issues that lead to delinquency.

Yes and according to the Bible, it's due to false teachings:

"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them... evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.... But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."(2 Timothy 3:1-16)NIV

Yes, people have abandoned family life for two parents working. The kids run wild or are brought up by daycare and schools.

Spirituality has nothing to do with it. The problem is a lack of family involvement. Too many "parents" want to have kids, but do not want to take the time to "raise" them. Parents need to take a greater interest in teaching their kids simple values and the difference between right and wrong.

yes

too many kids not being disciplined. not going to church. believing they can do no wrong.

One State, or, rather the child protective service stated in front to the kids and the parents that "Kids can do no wrong"

Those kids did 80 thousands dollars worth of damage to a State owned house. Their parents got the bill. What happened to the kids? They were told by the state, "you did a bad thing, not your parents have to pay the bill."

The kids ran away from home, got caught, the state put in foster homes, saying they can take better care of the kids. Three months later, the state ran out of foster homes, tryed to give the kids back to the parents. The parents said, "you wanted them, you can keep them." The state took the parents to court, and won. Forcing the parents to take the kids back, and still told the parents "kids can do no wrong" but added, "you have to pay for any mistakes they make"

Those people were good friends of mine, i was there when it happened. I would say put the kids in church, and try to teach them right from wrong. how ever, they tryed that and it failed.

Getting to my point, talk is cheep. Some times you may have to Beat a little since in to them, if not, they can and will walk all over you. I am not talking about breaking bones, or beatting half to death. I am talking about attention getting...you do wrong, its going to hurt.

Why do you think our prisons are so full?

The cause has to do with economics. When both parents must work, there is less guidance at home and the children are frequently on their own. That's rarely good for anyone.

Why should any of us give you the reasons why we think you're [BLEEP] when you won't give us the reasons why you think "the root of America's juvenile delinquency problem is a spiritual one"?
