First of all I want to say that I am not attempting to "bash" either religion. Having been LDS/Mormon for 8 years, I know that one of the LDS/Mormon arguments is that the Book of Mormon has to be true because of how well it is written; that there is no way that Joseph Smith could have written it because he only had a third education. Listen to what another poster had to say about Muhammed.

When the Quran was revealed, the Arabic language was at its peak in richness of expression and literature. The Quran came and challenged the best Arabic literature and poetry of that time.

Prophet Mohammad , being illiterate, could not possibly have come up with something so miraculously immaculate that it even exceeded the best of poetry and Arabic literature at the time of the language's peak development.

"He , had no reason to come up with something like the Quran, and cause the entire society of Arabia to become his enemy. Why would he do something like that?"

So I want to know what the LDS/Mormons and Muslims think about this? Does it bug you that someone else is using the same argument as you to proove that they are right and therefore you, by default, are wrong?

Sorry if this offends anyone...I just thought that question about Muhammed was interesting. I just want to know your take on both sides kind of claiming the same thing.

I don't really feel upset or offended by it. In fact, as a LDS, it kind of makes me have a better understanding for Muslims and how they came about their beliefs, since the concept has some similarities, as you respectfully pointed out. Thanks for posting this...I had never seen this quote before. It's interesting to take a look at things from different perspectives :)

Have a good weekend!

Your argument is not valid. There are many reasons why the Quran came from God.

Quran had many scientific evidence that it clearly came from God, For example, (23:14 Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create!)

Also, the Quran mentioned a lot of stuff that will happen in the future, and it happened, for example:Chapter 30 talked about how the Romans will be defeated. And everything happened.

Also, Muhammed had many miracles which proved he is a messenger from God.

His biggest Miracle is Quran because Poetry was so famous in Arabia that the Quran was sent to them as a challenge.

Looking at Jesus and Moses, peace be upon them.
In Jesus's era, medicine was famous, so Jesus cured the ill.
In Moses's era, magic was famous, so Moses came with many magic tricks that can only be done with the help of God.

I've included an article with additional insights for you. Here is part of the article.

LDS Apostle George Q. Cannon stated: “I believe myself that Mahomed, whom the Christians deride and call a false prophet and stigmatize with a great many epithets --I believe that he was a man raised up by the Almighty, and inspired to a certain extent by Him to effect the reforms which he did in his land, and in the nations surrounding. He attacked idolatry, and restored the great and crowning idea that there is but one God. He taught that idea to his people, and reclaimed them from polytheism and from the heathenish practices into which they had fallen. I believe many men were inspired who lived after him and before him, who, nevertheless, did not have the Holy Priesthood, but were led by the Spirit of God to strive for a better condition of affairs and to live a purer and higher life than those by whom they were surrounded were living. But while this was the case, it was the Spirit of God that did it.”[2] Latter-day Saints accept all truth, wherever it may be found, as part of our religion -- whether in the Quran or in other good books.

The Book of Mormon

Like the Prophet Muhammad, Book of Mormon prophets like Alma and Moroni lived in times when many people held false beliefs and denied the one true God. The people of God were often persecuted and faced many hardships. God empowered chosen prophets to call people to repentance and teach divine truths. These truths are recorded in the Book of Mormon.

I am Mormon and the comparison doesn't bother me.

I have many problems with the Muslim belief, especially their advocacy of violence, treating women and children so badly. etc.

Joseph had some education. Mohammad was illiterate, which defined means unable to read or write.

How hard would it have been for Mohammad to hook up with a scholar and later steal that person's writings?

Both religions were started by an angel, Muslim by gabriel and the mormons by moroni.
I am not sure what it says in the koran or the qu'an but int he KJV bible (for mormons) or the NIV for christians...alike, it says:colossians 2:18
Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his flesh mind.
Mormons therefore believe in angel worship and have an angel on every temple. as for Muslims, the angel. not God started their religion as well and Mohammad got rid of all the other Gods and said Allah is the only God to be worshipped, since there was so many Gods, how do we know that Allah was the one and only correct God to be worshipped???

hunter621 - Anti-muslim rantings are just as offensive as anti-mormon rantings. You have obviously not read the Quran - it does not advocate violence or abuse of women or children anymore than the Bible does, but the Bible has been used to subjugate women in the past. The Bible has been used to justify slavery and abuse of slaves in this country.

Faith is the evidence of things not seen, the hope of things to come. This is true of any religion. All followers of any particular religion have to have faith in their beliefs and that God has given them wisdom to believe as he would have them to believe. It is to bad that each person has to be correct and those around them wrong. I think this is what has led to every religious war that has occurred. This has lead to labeling and de-humanizing people. It's too bad we can't allow our neighbor to believe as they wish as long as it does not cause injury or death to another.

No; I've read both books. Personally I think the Quran is more eloquent as I AM a Muslim. Of course everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.

Peace.

I think both sides are prone to exaggerating and downplaying certain events. They will manipulate anything to there favor.

BTW hunter621, I can't wait till a Muslim comes by and reads how you truly feel about them, very insulting and Mormon of you.
