First step: read a good book or two on Criminology. (not necessarily 'fat' books: there are small 'digests', very good ones!). Second step: read the bare act, IPC, a few times. (suggest fast reading first, slighter slower pace second round, and then a good bit of reading, halting when necessary, to do the 'processing' as you read!). And, now you are ready to read some commentaries and interpretations, in your own time, enjoying the reading! (enjoying, because the IPC is a great piece of literature by itself, very well written!) As an additional step, recommend you read the Evidence Act through the same steps as suggested above for IPC, and understand the zlaw of evidence as well, and also understand the Evidence Act, in relation to the IPC! That then is IPC for a prospective Police Officer! Good luck, and all the best for a great career! ( read the works of Kiran Bedi!)
