Hello,
This is a serious question for intelligent, educated people who have good intentions and would like to help. I researched the issue of douching and was disgusted of all the fowl and negative information posted on douching. Especially people calling other people "douche bags".

I understand the risks that come with doucing.
I DO NOT douche often.
I have an important reason for douching (one I will keep private)

I just would like to know:
" How long after a woman douches, does it last ?"
Meaning.....after I douche, does the effect "cleanliness" last about a day or so......or just a few hours?

Is there anyone that would be able to give me a serious, sincere helpful opinion.....

PLEASE no derrogatory, disgusting or crude answers. Thanks

Thanks everyone for your help.

Despite my best efforts trying to find you an answer - all I coudl find is a recommendation that you don't do it more than once a month...

Even the Wikipedia page didn't give much insight - all I got was a link to another page, which I have taken the following Q and A from...

Q:
Is douching at least twice a week dangerous or safe?

Jen

A:
Douching this often is definitely a bad idea. Douching can wash away normal beneficial bacteria that live within the vagina, predisposing you to vaginal infections. Douching can also force bacteria higher, into the uterus and tubes, increasing the chance of your developing a serious infection that could damage the tubes and impair fertility.
Douching is not necessary. At the most, a woman should only douche once a month, unless instructed otherwise by her doctor for some specific reason.

Hello. Unless you have been instructed to use a medicated douche by your doctor or gyno, there are no benefits to doing it. Actually, you could do some harm, as douching changes the PH of your vagina. The PH is a delicate balance that's easily thrown out of whack. This can open the door to the overgrowth & imbalance of yeast & bacteria, thus causing problems. The vagina is a self-cleansing organ. This and the usual hormonal flucuations during the month is what causes a woman's normal daily light discharge.

Some douche due to concerns about vaginal odor. Every woman has her own unique, natural scent. A healthy woman who has good personal hygiene habits (Bathes, or showers daily) does not need to worry about offensive odor. If you practice good personal hygiene & have a foul, offensive vaginal odor, and/or itching, burning, etc, then a visit to the doctor is in order. This is not normal.

As far as how long a douche is 'effective', my best guess is a few hours. As I stated above, the vagina is self cleansing & the resulting daily discharge would probably appear again within a few hours. Hope this helps :)

it depends on how it will affect you...some people experience infections because douching washes away good bacteria, but I believe it is designed to make you feel clean all day if the affects come out positive.
