Some one just asked the question "Why didn't Jesus write a gospel?"
A christian replied in part.
"Lol, so if someone doesn't write something by hand that means it didn't come from their mouth - atheist logic, gotta hate it, cuz it's dumbing down the world and destroying lives."

First off doesn't it seem that this person doesn't know the difference between writing and speaking?? Second does any one have a first hand account of atheist logic destroying lives? Secondly can't we all agree narrowing your views down to one straight line of thinking would be what is actually dumbing down the world?
Thridly, if you didn't read the original question there was nothing to say the asker was atheist. It I think would be a resonable question for even a christian to ask. So why jump down his throat and make yourself look bad?
Fourth, Why do so many christians seem unable to face agnostic or atheist questions with decent non scripture answers?

I'm agnostic so don't call me atheist in your answers.

Religion is about finding your path to your creator. It isn't that one religion is the right path in God's eyes, it is simply the right path for the person to find their way. I think those who believe their "religion" is the answer into heaven and everyone else will burn in hell is going to ultimately be the one who is judged. Jesus, as taught in the bible spoke sternly to the righteous and mingled with the poor and the outcasted.

From my personal opinion those who call themselves christians and put themselves on pedestals where they feel they have the right to look down and judge others are those the farthest removed from Jesus and what he taught in the bible.

Would you consider that the Spiritual maturity of a Christian may have bearing on how they react or answer a question?

Think about how differently a third grader writes an essay about what they did this summer and how an eighth grader would write an essay on the very same topic. Because of their maturity, their perspectives are different.

We mature, in any area of our lives, because we learn (through formal education or by listening to others) and because we have experiences.

I do not think this is what is "wrong" with so many Christians, but a matter of their Spiritual maturity. I no longer feel the need to "defend" because now I understand that an attack against Christians is just part of the attacks as prophesied and which are now being fulfilled.

Hope this provided some insight (and without quoting Scripture, too.) God bless.

Some of us can and do answer questions sensibly and without chapter and versing.
Usually though we quote scripture because to our way of thinking this is the ultimate authority on the subject.

You would qoute for the IRS hand book if somebody asked a tax question, you would quote from the newspaper if somebody asked you a current events question. So what we're doing is no different.

And using one persons mistake to say all Christians are like that. That's like saying all agnostics are atheists.

Millions of people in this country call themselves Christian. How all of those people define the term christian varies greatly however. My point is that we are talking about a very large population of people and so you will inevitably run into some bad apples. Pretty much everyone has their own opinion as to how many of us are bad apples, which is completely subjective anyway. Many, if not most, Christians in this country are not really well founded in the faith but they are willing to open their mouths anyway to talk about it. I wish that people would only talk about things that they are knowledgeable about, but that is not the reality, unfortunately.

ok if someone answered that question that way, it was not thought out very well, and no one should bash anyone, no matter if they have faith or not- but there were a lot of other answers there that made a lot of sense, and were written in truth. Why not focus on those?

OK HERE IS THE TRUTH!

CHRISTIANS CAN NOT DEFINE THE WORD FAITH WGICH MEANS NOW FAITH IS BEING SURE (ESTABLISHED IN FACT) THAT ALL OF MY HOPES (DREAMS WISHES AND PRAYERS WILL COME TRUE BECAUSE YOU ARE CERTAIN (ESTABLISHED IN THE FACTS) OF WHAT WE DOI NOT SEE. (IE GOD).

ANOTHER WAY TO SAY THAT IS ALL OF MY WISHES COME TRUE (WHICH MINE DO) IF I PROVE GOD (WHICH I CAN IT TAKES 4 HOURS.)

THAT IS THE BIBKES DEFINITION. THEIR HOPES DO NOT COME TRUE... THEY HAVE NO WISHNESS...

SO THEY HAVE ZERO FAITH TO THE POINT OF DENIAL THAT WHAT YOUR ENTIRE HOUSE SHOULD BE BUILT ON THEY CANT BUILD GOOD HOUSES ON NO FAITH!

ITS TRUE! THEY WRITE BOOKS! BOOKS! ABOUT WHY GOD DOESN'T ANSWER ALL PRAYERS. THEY SHOULD WRITE BOOKS ON THEIR WORKS! NOT THEIR FAILURE!

CHRISTIANS ARE NOT VALID THE BIBLE IS...

PEACE OUT,

It is unreasonable to expect for someone to know verses like the back of their hand. They can tell you what they know is in the bible. Geez...
