Very difficult question to answer. There are circumstances that warrant almost any reaction. The best revenge is served after you forgot about the incident and G-d has conspired it all like a masterpiece. If you are in true danger (not just a slap, although I would still pull away to avoid it) you gotta defend yourself but don't go overboard. My biggest issue with the "turn the other cheek" line is similar to the Muslim guy's post, which is that that this principal doesn't discern the difference between vengeance and justice. The line's interpretation also seems to contradict other Judeo/Christian principals expressed. Maybe the line is misinterpreted. I haven't heard of a Christian argue that the world should have turned the other cheek to hitler.

Christians would probably turn the other cheek. As a heathen, I'd turn the other cheek (my butt) just so I could get enough momentum to slap back really, really hard. That is: if I didn't block the slap in the first place. Sometimes the old Tae Kwon Do training kicks in...

Being a large arrogant tough guy I'm not prone to letting people slap me. I had to decide how I was going to deal with that long ago.
If someone attacks me physically and they aren't drunk or on drugs. Just a slap I will turn the other cheek, while making it clear that I want to handle this problem in a Christian matter, but this is their last free chance so make it a good one.
Then of course I end up confessing that I'm a sinner and Lord thank you for your forgiveness.
Christians aren't perfect they are forgiven.
God Bless!

Vengence is based on Anger and Hatred. It is ignited by a damaged ego and scorned pride... If you can truly go above such negative emotions then slapping back just an action without malicious intent and therefore ok. But, if not able to transcend it...
Jesus had the whole community slapping, spitting, whipping, stoning, cursing etc etc at him... yet, he did not take revenge as an option.

If I am understanding the Christian Bible correctly, it doesn't necessarily mean to literally turn the other cheek. It means accept this person as is. Personally I'd knock him down and walk away. But I would still love and accept him unconditionally. And I would still treat him as if it never happened. Grudges, hate, getting even only hurts me, not them.
Blessed Be

Use your head...laws, etc. But...if Christ died for your body, should you not defend it?
When Jesus was slapped upon the cheek, did he turn it? When Paul was, what did He say?
Turn the other cheek must be some phrase that means something else...cause neither turned it!!!

According to scripture you should turn the other cheek. Old testament (law) called for eye for and eye however, New testament (grace) reads that vengence is mine sayeth the Lord I will repay. It is written to pray for those that despitefully use you. It is also written to bless those that curse you. It is not our job to judge other people and to make them pay according to our thoughts. Judge not lest ye be judged and with the same measurement. I hope this helps. Be blessed!

There is a difference from Revenge and Justice.
If someone slaps me for no reason, it is justice to slap him back. I don't know why Christians consider that Revenge which is based on hatred!!
Revenge is like someone killed your parents, then you go on rampage killed his family too.
Thats how I see it.
Responding to Howl:
In Islam, there is a difference between Revenge and Justice. Islam never taught Revenge. Islam taught us justice. Look at the examples above to see the difference between Revenge and Justice.
